"Hubby and I went on a Saturday afternoon. Super friendly people; we felt welcome right away. We got a one on one tour of these old buildings that have been placed in this area. A few were original to the site, a couple buildings had been moved to the site that were of the same era, had been in the general vicinity and/or were "related" through families in the Oulu area. Very low key, free admission, free will donation. Interesting too see how people lived 110 years ago, to hear the family connections and about some of the past visitors, and how they're connecting with young people in the area."

"I visit historical sites all over the country because I'm interested in immigration. When I arrived, this Oulu house was filled with 20+ neighbors who meet there for coffee. My tour guide was descended from the original Laplander Finnish immigrants who settled here and he knew how to use the tools in the shed. He knew the origins of cradles, wood stoves, saunas. This is a living site, restored by volunteers. Don't miss it."
