"Extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism, courtesy and customer service. We applied for a unit we were really excited about in Oct 2023. Shortly after submitting our application, we received a call letting us know, "We have good news, and bad news." Good news, we were approved, bad news the unit we applied to was no longer available as the current tenant had decided to remain and coincidentally enough, they had other more expensive units available that were immediately ready to move in. Seemed like a sales tactic. We were not interested in the other units they had available and made this clear upon applying. Regardless though, they stated our application fees were still "non-refundable" and it wasn't their fault the tenant decided to stay and they couldn't do anything about it. We did not find this to be fair, as we had applied to a unit THEY posted as available. Perhaps they should refrain from posting a unit as available until, maybe I don't know, the tenant has actually LEFT. We emailed and called MULTIPLE times over SEVERAL days and finally received our money back because it was a "special circumstance." This experience left a very bitter taste, so we decided to hold off on moving for some time. Fast forward to March 2024, we have still been searching around the area and circled back to Carillon. We decided to give them another chance and tried to put our suspicions aside. At this point we started suspecting that this is a click-bait scam where they post units on their website that are NOT ACTUALLY READY AND AVAILABLE TO MOVE IN TO and they basically profit off the $50 application fee from each person since its "non-refundable" and you're likely applying to a unit that is not even available. Well, our suspicions grew even stronger when we received THE IDENTICAL PHONE CALL this time around. "We have good news and bad news..." Oh great, I thought, here we go again. Sure enough, same. EXACT. scenario. "Unfortunately the current tenant has rescinded their notice and have decided to remain, however, we have these other units available that are ready to move in." We were literally at a loss for words, it just all seemed scripted at this point. We voiced our concerns to Melissa, she's the rep who contacted us this time, and blatantly told us that we were not getting our money back this time. This time? As if they had done us a favor the first time with returning our money for the hassle THEY WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR. Had us PAY and APPLY for a unit that was NOT even available. We even verbally confirmed with Brionna, who was the person we met with on the tour, and she confirmed the tenants were moving out. So, it's just all been a big fat coincidence that 24 hours after we applied and were approved, the tenant SO SUDDENLY DECIDED TO RESCIND THEIR NOTICE. WOW. We now strongly suspect that the units you may see posted as "available" or with a listed move in date, is not an accurate reflection of what they actually have available. We suspect that this is a click-bait scam where you will surely lose your application fee and most importantly your time. I can't even begin to imagine how many other people fell in to this trap and how much they've been able to profit off of these fake listings. I hope sharing our experience will shed light on this shady establishment and make people reconsider when applying here. P.S. We're still waiting to receive our holding deposit money back. Our calls and emails, once again go answered. Hopefully someone reaches out following this lovely review."
"Worst experience here. I applied to rent a one bedroom apartment and paid $200 application fee. The leasing office people told me I get $1000 off the second month rent if I applied by September 15. I signed the lease and then they told me it was a mistake and the lady that promised $1000 off wasn't a regular employee and she didn't knew which apartment has a deal. I canceled the lease, but they didn't pay me back $200 even it was their mistake. Be really careful about these crooks."
"The absolute worst experience living here. DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!!! We ignored the reviews when we moved in and it was the biggest mistake I ever made. Firstly, the women who work in the office are awful to deal with, if you can even reach them as they’re never in the office and never answer the phone. Everything in the building is broken. The printers did not work for the entire year I lived there. The pool was closed and constructed on during summer months. We were told there would be barbecues built within one month of signing our lease, as you can assume that never happened. The gym wasn’t cleaned for OVER a month, and once I emailed 4 times they finally answered and barely cleaned it. As if all this wasn’t enough, they also took our entire security deposit (3000) AND then requested even more money for outrageous items such as re painting the entire apartment (which we already had done?) and other lies which were absolutely false. Our place was not damaged was so ever when we left, they are complete scammers and this is a disgusting establishment."
"Melissa is the best! She helped me out a ton when I applied, was really nice and showed me a few units to choose from. Have been living here a little over 6 months now and I love it! Nice affordable safe complex. Really calm, neighbors are friendly and everyone really keeps to themselves which is nice."
"As a current resident, I'm finding that the maintenance of the overall establishment isn't the most stellar. In-unit repairs I've experienced already come with no "heads up, we're coming" aside from a likely knock at the door and then, if given permission, free entrance to do the work. Some notice of "today is the day we will be by" would be nice. They send follow-up emails to rate their work, but then when I respond back looking for the details of the work done in my apartment, there has still been radio silence. Some items still have yet to be taken care of. I understand staffing might be short which is why I don't press to have repairs taken care of, but . . . these are old apartments, and don't have the most modern items within each unit. The trash at the main entrance has been a mess since I moved here in February. Now it's broken and there's no seeming attempt to disperse the overflowed rubbish to maybe another receptacle. The security to get in isn't the greatest as guests (or anybody) can just tailgate a resident as they pull in. So having a main entrance having both guests and residents isn't the best. The business center is very outdated. Their animal outdoor area, isn't well-kept, but that is mostly due to the residents showing little care to pick up after their animals. I'm not sure how much beyond my contract will I renew, but if the experience remains the same, then it won't be much longer into 2024. It's an okay place, but for the standard cost here in LA, I suppose it's as good as it'll get NEW!.... Well.... it's nearing the end of August and problems continue to add up. Facility breakdowns in trash disposal and security gates into and out of the community. Zero communication from the management in some circumstances, but this old building complex is showing its age"
