Reviews of Dineen Park
"One of my favorite local disc golf courses"
"Park is good for kids pond is a good spot to fish usually"
"Disc golf review. After the long wait to play this course, I found myself unimpressed by this course. I had not played this course prior to the renovations so I can not compare the new layout to its original layout but in comparison to other courses in the Milwaukee County Park system, this might be one of my least favorites. I can certainly see why others might like this course for the fairways forgiveness to those erratic drives and the ability to grip it and rip it as opposed to the technical shots required by other courses. There are a few holes that do require a precise throw off the tee pad but for most there isn’t much in the way during the initial release off the tee. Don’t get me wrong, there are some holes that have trees or bushes to navigate through or around but they aren’t like playing through narrow wooded course or have the same variety of looks as you might see at Brown Deer, Estabrook or Dretzka. The tee pads are concrete with one already graffitied on. The signs, if they are even present are already beat up and vandalized. There is also trash in and around all the trees and bushes throughout the course. I doubt the current condition of the course is the doings of the disc golfers themselves but more so the location of the course. When present, the signs are similar to the other Milwaukee courses. Circular in design, they show both pin placements. Yes, there are two pins for each hole. (Side note: I almost wish Milwaukee County Parks would take out 18 baskets and move them to Dretzka and give us alternate options there instead and alternate the pins at Dineen every few weeks.) As it stands, you can play Pin placements A, B, or a combination of both. Navigating the course isn’t terrible even with some signs missing. Course map can be found at the start should you want to take a picture for referencing later. There are a few long walks between 5-6 and 9-10 that could be confusing for first time playing this course. The tee maps do have “next tee” on them. There is water on the course but it is not really in play unless you throw wildly towards it. The creeks aren’t deep but the pond, which isn’t technically in play on hole 6 but could be, might swallow up your disc if very poorly thrown. The course is for the most part flat with minor elevation changes as you approach the pin. Some basket placements are behind some trees but most are open or at least visible from the tee pad. Overall, I do not see myself playing this course very often and never alone. The only time I’ll play this again is when my group wants a go at it otherwise there are too many nicer and more fun courses within twenty minutes in all directions from here. It took three of us 100 minutes on an early Sunday morning to play a single round. By 10:00 am the course was extremely busy. Shot a -3 my first time playing and I consider myself between Advance and Intermediate."
"Great space on the North side for afternoon strolls, sports, or duck watching."
