"This place truly was a beautiful unicorn priced safe haven in DTLA that I was lucky enough to live in back in 2018. I split a two bedroom beautiful and large space cement loft with a balcony in each bedroom, huge windows and shiny new wood floors. Bailey the security guard is amazing and always patrolling at night. Everything there is secured with FOB keys including the elevator, a gated multi floor parking lot, and a beautiful rooftop with a pool, the most comfortable chairs and outdoor cooking&dining area. Nearly every day there was always the best day ever. I was lucky to live on the same floor as some amazingly cool, hardworking, interesting, friendly and creative people. There were so many amazing people to connect with professionally or socially at the Medallion, as well as so many other nearby apartment buildings and social gatherings downtown. Also, whoever decided on putting the Tilt Coffee shop and that gorgeous and HUGE color changing neon light Lotus above the middle of the courtyard is a genius! That lotus is what initially attracted me to the building. Equipped with tables and chairs all over the area, it was my favorite place to have breakfast or any to go orders I brought home(usually a wrap from the Simply Salad directly downstairs.) Additionally, I loved so many other restaurants downtown and how you can pretty much walk every and anywhere in the city for shops, restaurants, convenience stores, fashion stores, groceries, you name it. If you go to DTLA, don’t miss out visiting the Medallion at least for Tilt coffee and the lotus, definitely do have dinner on the roof at Perch if you haven’t yet and please do yourself a favor if you love good food or rare cutting edge clothing and accessories at unbeatable prices and check out Santee Alley and the surrounding shopping areas there before sundown! Thank you Medallion for taking care of me while I got to know DTLA."
"I had an awesome experience living at the Medallion the last couple years. For those commuting, the location is very convenient as there are direct routes to the 101,110, 10, and 60fwys. It's close enough to be walking distance from the restaurants and bars in the area, but far enough that street closures for events and rush hour traffic don't greatly affect access to it. For those that commute locally, there's a bus station and metro bike station right out front, as well as a designated space for Lime/Lyft/Uber scooters that is almost always full in the mornings. One big pro of The Medallion was that it was the only complex that I saw in DTLA that allowed tenants to rent out more parking spaces. Others limited spaces to the unit size (Studios and 1BD get one space, 2BD gets two). Since the parking garage is privately owned, there are staff that are at the entrance during business hours, and the gate is closed afterwards. For those concerned about safety/security, security staff is constantly walking the grounds and seem to always be available. During the entire time there management was so attentive and helpful. Diana is incredible and I feel like we've gotten spoiled with such a great experience with a property manager. She'd be the first to notify us whenever anything happened with the building and was always quick to deal with problems that may arise. I've moved out of DTLA for work, but if I'm brought back to living in the city again The Medallion would easily be my first choice."
"I'd generally advise to avoid Barsala properties. I had stayed at the Barsala property in Los Angeles over the Long weekend in May 2018 (2BR apartment). The thing to keep in mind with these properties is that when things work they are as good as a hotel stay but when things don't, your experience will be significantly worse. These are single units in a regular residential area/building occupied by owners or direct renters. So there is no 24/7 staff to help with things. On a long weekend, a simple leak in a bathroom or a non working electric outlet can take many hours if not a whole day, to fix. Needless to say, if there is an issue one would look for building staff or nearby help to address the issue. This is not welcome and the building staff makes it amply clear that they may even have an answer but they will not help you out. In my personal experience they seemed to go out of their way to refuse to help. To add to our woes, the parking garage was inoperable by the fob after 8pm. Given we were touring LA for the first time, it was always a given that we would return to the apartment around midnight if not later. We even tried to contact the help telephone number listed at the garage door but the garage operator said that it was the building management or some other operator that was in charge. We ended up wasting a few hours trying to figure out whom to ask for help, wait for Barsala staff to respond, finding out alternatives, etc. Barsala makes note that we shouldn't disturb the residents or ask the building staff for anything. It makes sense but in our situation, we needed help on the spot. With Barsala's remote assistance, there simply was too much delay for simple things. All of Barsala's support is remote and while it may sound cool, having a remote support team definitely didn't help our cause. When I reported all these to Barsala support, they said they'll reimburse our parking fees that we incurred (nothing about the 2 hours past midnight we spent outside, looking for help and trying to park the car in a safe spot). They shamelessly sought feedback and when I wrote them an email saying I'll be happy to review them and look past these issues, they simply ignored my feedback. So, of course, your feedback is valuable only if it is 5/5. So here I am, with a public review of 2/5. The rooms were not bad, so they deserve at least so much. Also, I never got reimbursed for the parking fees nor for waiting outside for hours past midnight with my wife and parents."
"We have been at this property for over 5 years and absolutely love it. Diana (community director)is so caring, attentive and helpful. Bailey does such a great job keeping us safe too. I'm so grateful for this property and the people who work at it."
"I have lived here since early 2016 and I have had a great experience. I have a dream apartment at a fair rate. Diana is so friendly and goes above and beyond to make sure any of my requests are addressed as soon as possible."
