"Caren has been amazing in helping me switch from my old unit to the current one. There was a mistake in my move out statement for the old unit. I had to call the office more than 20 times during the past month but no one could fix it, I was very stressed and disappointed of the Essex team the entire time. One day Caren picked up the phone and she took my concern very seriously and started following up with the accounting team till they fixed the issue. I really appreciate how she resolved the mistake in few days. Thank you Caren for being so helpful."
"I love the the location of this apartment. Close to everything we need. Thanks to the management team helping to set up all the paperwork within just a few days. Special thanks to Caren C. For your patience for all the moving in support."
"I went for a tour at this place. Tom- the leasing agent was the best ever. I haven’t even met him, but his communication was excellent, very fast responses, answered all of my questions, and really cared about me finding what I'm looking for. Definitely the best out of all agents- I have dealt with a good amount of them since my search began a few months ago. The building seems to be well cared for, and apartments as well. Even the ones that aren't newly remodeled are in a good shape."
"I’ve been a resident here for a couple years and just completed a transfer within the property. No move is without hiccups, but Josue was extremely helpful and responsive whenever anything unexpected arose. He took ownership of the issues and acted quickly and decisively to resolve them. I appreciate his communication and his follow through!"
"Worst place Ive lived in & most negligent management. Left after 1 year. Details below but worst parts are: 2 credit cards were taken from my mailbox. USPS told 5600 that someone has master key to mailboxes but 5600 never told tenants I had to send a demand letter & intent to sue to get my security deposit back. They didnt return it within CA laws 21 day limit despite having my new address before they issued check. Not surprised theyre currently facing a class action lawsuit on security deposits Bait & switch Offered $500 bonus for a 1BR but after non-refundable fee paid, said "there are no overages of 1 beds" so no $500. There have always been 1BR openings despite "no overages" Move in Given instructions for wrong property, no visitor code for months, AC & coax broken, & roaches. Was promised same day AC repair + portable AC (amid heatwave) but took until the next week & no portable AC given. This broke smarthome link & they refused to fix it, this is an advertised amenity built into rent but it never worked. 1 day in smart lock broke & locked me out. They needed a special tool but didnt have it, said it would take hours & I should go elsewhere to wait. I just moved cross country & car keys were in my apt so had nowhere to go. I sat on hallway floor for hours when I was supposed to be working as they tried to break in. They said they knew lock was faulty (last tenant put in 2 tickets) but never fixed it I asked if apt was inspected before move in. Didnt get answer just a script I got from all staff Id talk to over the year: "this isnt the experience we want you to have." Offered rent credits since 1st week was unlivable but they werent given. After a month of ignored emails, calls, & VMs they told me they forgot to put it in At lease end they blamed move in chaos on maintenance & said they got a new team but maintenance supervisor & staff are the same Theft See USPS issue above. 5600 took no action. Whenever Id ask for updates I got the script. Once they claimed a tenants arrest & eviction solved the issue but it continued. They didnt admit there was an issue until it got too bad to ignore: in July mailboxes were broken into & left open for over 24hrs with alarms blaring & no attempt to secure them so whatever mail left wasnt taken. Next day they finally acknowledged this + a broken mailroom door lock but STILL didnt tell tenants that someone has a key & they knew since Feb Package room also had theft (IF packages made it there, couriers didnt know about it since no signs). Packages were opened, emptied, resealed & left there. Police reports didnt help as camera footage wasnt kept past 1 day If someone can get into locked mailboxs or locked package room whats stopping them from getting into my locked home? Communication Emails ignored & staffing blamed. When staffed they arent transparent or proactive in announcing important things like mailboxes Maintenance Fan & light randomly turned on & off. They closed 2 of 5 tickets over 6 months without even seeing it. Fixes only worked for few weeks before it broke again. Eventually there was no light in my living room as only light was from fan which stopped working entirely Garage door broke (either stuck open or closed) at least 8 times & elevators broke every 2 weeks. When I asked why this happened so much they didnt think this was an issue as "eventually things get fixed." Amid thefts, garage stuck open for days IS an issue Move out 6.5% increase but 1BR avg in 90036 was down 4.6% over the year so I gave my 30 day notice (they then listed my apt for cheaper than my rent). They told me Id be able to give my new address later for mailing my security deposit. This didnt occur until I got my final statement after I left. I gave my new address but they didnt respond for 11 days after I followed up 4 times. They sent my check to my old address AFTER I gave them my new one so I had take legal action (see top) I know a scripted reply to this is coming to save face but if nothing improved in the past year (& before based on older reviews) I doubt it ever will"
