"I had a great time staying at Cobalt – it really felt like home. The community was awesome and respectful, contributing to an amazing living experience overall. The management was always responsive, and all maintenance requests were dealt with promptly – they were very attentive. Additionally, the location is great, situated in close proximity to downtown Culver which provided numerous dining options. While it's time for me to move on to a new chapter, I will undoubtedly miss my time here. I highly recommend this apartment complex to anyone seeking attentive management, nice amenities, a friendly community, and a convenient location."
"DO NOT RENT HERE! The building itself is new and clean in a great area but the high prices are not worth living here. Management is slow to respond to any concern, complaint or anything to be honest. Nothing will get done on time or when needed. Multiple issues occur here...no hot water, power outages, ev stations not working and the list goes on. Apartments are nice but poorly constructed because you can hear upstairs neighbors walking around. Garage is open 24/7. Gates don't work so anyone can come in and potentially get into the building. On-Site Manager is not helpful at all. The area has a ton of buildings for rent and some are quite new. I'd check those out then renting here."
"NEW: Below is the initial review I had left for this apartment complex. I finally moved out on February 26, 2022, and I have to start by saying that living in the building was very nice. I liked the unit as well as the managers. It's a shame that my initial experience has now been tarnished. The reason for this new low rating is because since moving out, the company has taken my entire security deposit as well as asked for additional money (due to purported cleaning and painting charges, both of which are not allowed, plus other charges that make little sense). I have been through this process several times with previous landlords, but never to this extent. Moreover, I know landlord/tenant law quite well in California and what the company is doing is not permitted. As nice as a building is, if you cannot trust them to be fair and lawful with your money at move out, there is no reason to live there. I am truly disappointed with how this turned out and am in the process of pursuing legal action against the company. I will update this post again once that process has concluded so I can share the outcome with everyone. If they are doing this to me, I'm sure they are doing this with many other tenants (if not all tenants). I look forward to educating everyone so that this can be prevented for other folks. OLD: I’ve been here 2 months so far and I totally love it. Best place I’ve lived in LA, and I’ve been here 10 years."
"Below is my old review, when I first moved in. I left it there to be fair to the place, which we truly enjoyed upon our initial move-in. Since, it has been a complete disaster, and we sadly cannot in good faith recommend this building to anyone. A number of massive issues arose that have taken away all our confidence in Cobalt. First, after some flooding, the power went down in mid December. The building remained on a diesel generator (the size of a tractor trailer) for *3 months*. The air pollution from this was truly terrible, and made using any of the amenities impossible. Management did provide air filters 2 months into the ordeal, and only after they were fined by the city for the terrible degree of air pollution associated with this failure. During the same event, our apartment flooded. Not once, not twice, but three times (including on Christmas eve). For months we had industrial fans in our apartment and couldn't use our patio, or sections of our apartment for extended periods of time. This was a total nightmare, and resulted in extreme disruption of our living space, as you can imagine. They did finally fix the problem 2.5 months after the initial issue, but that's an unacceptable amount of time in my opinion. I'm not sure if all flooding issues have been resolved, but our neighbor had to do an emergency move out due to their apartment flooding too. And I should note, we're both on the 2nd floor. I've also met multiple other tenants in the building that had to relocate due to flooding issues, so the building seems to be experience wide-spread failures. The manager of the building is very kind, but at the end of the day they have not been able to do much. Over three months out from the initial problem and they still haven't provided us with any information for example regarding rent concessions for all the issues. It's a shame, but it seems like the building had major problems regarding construction, and that management is most interested in extracting rent rather than ensuring people have a decent place to live. OLD: Only moved in a week ago but we love the place so far. The apartment is beautiful. The amenities are excellent. And the staff is wonderful. I do wish it was a bit closer to downtown Culver, but hey, you can't have everything."
"I’ve lived in Cobalt for over 15 months and I absolutely love it!!! Management is very on top of things - always responsive and eager to help. Maintenance is the same - friendly, quick and helpful. Apartments are big new, and ammenities are beautiful. Pricing is very fair and much cheaper than nearby placed like Santa Monica. They have security guards watching the premise every night too! I love it here and just renewed my lease"
