Reviews of Quailwood Apartments
"My husband, son, & I moved into quailwood on 6-5-2017. We moved out on 7-11-2020. At first it seemed like a nice place, but we were wrong. Another poster mentioned about the poor inspection beforehand & I back this. When we came in initially to view, the apartment was not ready (due to cleaning) & instead, Amy showed us hers which looked exactly the same as the one we were getting. We liked it, & decided to sign. We signed for $950-$980 rent (can't remember exact number) with the deposit to match. A day or two after, she calls us & says that our credit actually wasn't so great, so now we have to pay a $1,200 deposit. We had a deadline & couldn't back out, so we scrounged up the extra money & got the keys on 6-5-2017. She walked us around the apartment & one thing that stuck out in our minds was that there were a few dead roaches scattered about the apartment. She said she was "so embarrassed" & that's not how she runs things. She scheduled us a spray ,which we got, but it was not successful. The roaches got worse. The ENTIRE time we lived there, we had roaches. Halfway through our stay there we asked if we could be put on a constant spray schedule & get fumigated but we're told no & that we can ask to be sprayed whenever it comes time for bug spray for the whole complex. When I say we had roaches, I mean, we needed to EXTENSIVELY clean EVERYTHING we had before bringing it into our new house. They'd run up the walls, across the table during meals, onto you while you slept or we're on the toilet, egg sacks would be found in cabinets & drawers, we lost a printer from infestation...it was bad. The burglaries are also very true. My own car was broken into & I lost alot of old little memorabilias like my grad tassle & little gifts from my husband. By the time we moved out, our rent had jumped to $1,055 (due to a "survey" they take about prices of other apartments around. Allegedly.) We also still had a roach infestation. Amy & Gsf properties do not care about their Tennant's. They care about money. DO NOT RENT HERE. PS. It's not safe to let your kid skateboard on the edge of the pool, Amy -.-"
"Let me tell you guys that the manager Amy is not only rude but she is careless and has no feelings. I applied and was accepted for an apartment and turned the deposit in asap to ensure that I would get it and she told me that so far someone was still living there but they will be moving out soon then she would give me a move in date. I waited over 2 months to get a move in date. Meanwhile I had already purchased sooo many things for the apartment like couches, dining table, TV, kitchen utensils, LITERALLY EVERYTHING!! I also had opened accounts both electricity and gas and even paid a years worth of rental insurance and GUESS WHAT!!! Amy called me 2 WEEKS before my move in date and said that she was upgrading the floors in the apartment and that the price was going to go up on the rent! Even though I had already signed the lease and everything she insisted that she couldn’t do anything about it and that she will only rent it to me for that new price. I told her it was unfair for me after all the waiting, purchases, and everything and she just said “Well just make some phone calls and get your money back” like really?? She said she would give me back my deposit and everything but what really made me upset was the fact that she didn’t care about my situation and the fact that I wasted so much time, money, and energy for this apartment and she didn’t care at all. Funniest part was getting an email from the management asking how my “moveout process” was lol I never even got to move in. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE APARTMENTS TO ANYONE!"
"I moved my family out of Quailwood Apartments for 3 reasons. First, before my family moved into Apt. 127, the manager poorly inspected the apartment after the last tenant and rented the apartment to us with a severe flea infestation. My fiancée suffered terribly from many flea bites that have left scars on her legs and body. My son was kept away from the apartment until the issue was resolved, this took 2 months of vigorous vacuuming and 2 rounds of shampooing. Pest control bombed the apartment twice, we used a powder pesticide used for fleas. Secondly, the constant construction neighboring the complex was an eye sore and noisy. The third reason was, the apartment itself had not been remodeled since the early 1980's. Once Management sent notice on rent being raised that was the final straw. Management handed our apartment very poorly. First, Apt. 127 should have never been leased in the condition that it was in. The carpet had never been cleaned by the last tenant. We had vacuumed over 30 times within the first week and kept pulling large amounts of dirt and hair and fleas from the carpet even after management said it was cleaned shampooed. The amount of fleas that were removed from the carpet was very alarming. The dish washer was not plugged in on arrival and once installed properly it did not dry our dishes after a cycle was completed. Both of our toilets did not flush waste effectively even without toilet paper and because of this management replaced one. We rented as advertised a 2 bed 2 bath, we basically received a 2 bed 1.5 bath. The glass cover on the oven door kept loosening and falling off, it took maintenance a few visits to fix it. The threshold on our front door had an exposed opening allowing critters into our home. Around Spring time, Bee's were flying into our apartment via the chimney. In the end of my lease, we cleaned the unit and left it in better condition than when we received it. We were charged nearly $500 for dust on the blinds and cabinets, fees to shampoo the carpet (Carpet needs to be replaced in my honest opinion. Many other micro charges for new paint which is related to nail holes on the wall used for décor. Charges for detail cleaning the oven and shower which i can understand. I would not recommend this Apartment Complex due to unprofessional Management and poor upkeep of the units. Our experience was unfortunate and I hope this can be a learning experience for others to check your rental before you sign a lease agreement. -Richard Milford"
"We recently had a gate installed; crime is WORSE. My wife's car was broken into (since the actual gate is busted half the time and the side gate's lock is inoperable), and the apartment manager and the the Bakersfield corporate says that the gate is only ornamental, and its really our fault for not protecting ourselves better. Shoutout to Amy from the apartments and Emma from corporate, you really know how to make your customer's feel safe and appreciated! p.s. I was informed the reason the rent is increasing is because they do a survey to see how expensive all the other apartments are nearby (so basically not because things have become more expensive, but because they can get away with it; gotta love the morality!)."
"Only good thing:Great location, close to CSUB, shopping markets, and etc. Lived there for 2 years, heard about people getting broken into, but the manager never did anything about it. My apartment got broken into shortly afterwards, so I switched to an upstairs unit. A few weeks later, 11 cars parked in the front had their tires slashed. Horrible place don't rent here!"
