"My wife and I are spending the winter at a local RV park. We're from out-of-state, and at ages 73 and 68, we both are pain patients who have both been prescribed opiates for years for chronic pain. We were unaware of changes in laws regarding opiate prescriptions that made it illegal for our regular pharmacy to fill our scrips and mail meds to us, which is what we did 2 years ago while wintering in Borrego. So, I took our perfectly legal prescriptions to be filled at Borrego Pharmacy. The pharmacist decided, evidently, that I was a drug-seeker and she refused to fill my wife's and my prescriptions. My wife is currently going through withdrawal as a result of this decision. She does not deserve to suffer in this way because of the lack of respect for her and a failure to consider that her decision is about more than the pharmacist's potential liability. We will never return to Borrego Springs."
