"Kaiser patients beware! If, by no choice of your own, you end up in an emergency situation and require surgery at a non-Kaiser facility, prepare for the possibility of a nightmare attempting to get aftercare from the doctor who performed your surgery. Familiarize yourself with the ins and outs of a 90-day global before leaving the hospital. In my case this was not honored by the non-Kaiser surgeon who then required a referral before scheduling me for an appointment following my surgery. Kaiser insisted that a referral was not needed. The hospital also stated a referral was not needed but the surgeon’s office would not budge! It took me over 3 weeks and numerous hours on the phone and agreeing to pay out of pocket before my appointment would be scheduled. At that point and after telling Kaiser I was at my whits end… a very nice woman at Kaiser finally got my plea to a manager who agreed to fax a referral. I might also add that obtaining a work note while in a non-Kaiser facility was also close to impossible without persistence and patience. Hospital doctors put the responsibility on Kaiser PCP even though not under their care and Kaiser will tell you it’s the responsibility of the doctors at hospita!! Definitely a flawed system - this should not have been so difficult. Whenever possible stay within the KAISER network and save yourself a lot of frustration."

"When you come and get your prescription refilled here, expect to wait. It will ALWAYS be more than the promised 15 minutes. I’ve been here about 4 times and have had to wait every single time - even when the app said the prescription is ready to be picked up."
