"BLUE SHIELD PATIENTS BEWARE!!!!!!!! I met with Dr. Gurai on Monday, 5 February 2024. During that visit, Dr. Gurai exhibited a complete lack of integrity an showed he is void of integrity. If his animosity toward Blue Shield of California is prevalent in SPINE AND NERVE DIAGNOSTIC CENTER – FOLSOM's medical staff medical decisions are clearly at risk of being guided by this man's vindictiveness. At first, I thought it was the 4" Star of David tattoo on my forearm, but as the visit progressed, it became clear that Dr. Gurai's ill will had its foundation in resentment over the contracts HE signed, agreed to and entered into with my wife's employer – Blue Shield of California. Once Dr. Gurai found out my wife was employed by Blue Shield, he spent the rest of the visit trying to shame me for the persecution and maltreatment he believes he is suffering under as the result of treating Blue Shield patients. (I guess I should have told him I'm not covered by Blue Shield) After a rant of complaints, including claiming that Blue Shield refuses to pay claims and if they do pay a claim, the payment is a small percentage of what Medi-cal pays. He emphasized that if I were to need a procedure, Blue Shield refuse the claim along with several other demonstrably false statements about Blue Shield. Dr. Gurai must have seen the "Airborne" lapel pin on my hat and asked if I was in the military. Subsequently said: " Well, thank you for your service… BUT NOT FOR YOUR WIFE'S." Dr. Gurai then made a few more disjointed and false claims about Blue Shield and how he was being screwed by Blue Shield then said: "And you're OK with her working for them?" followed by an expression of disgust. If the physicians at SPINE AND NERVE DIAGNOSTIC CENTER – FOLSOM harbor this level of animosity toward any insurance provider, the managing partners should consider not accepting that carrier's policies rather than subjecting patients to the sophomoric diatribes of a physician who isn't sharp enough to read the contract to which he apparently agreed, and does not understand that his contractual complaints against a patient's insurance provider should clearly never be the focal point of any medical procedure. I have contacted Blue Shield (even though I am not covered under their policies) and provided them with my notes on the visit with the suggestion they protect their patients from Dr. Gurai by dropping SPINE AND NERVE DIAGNOSTIC CENTER – FOLSOM from their list of providers. "This place gave me my life back. It's not just shots and PT referrals but that's part of it, it's discussions of health, with encouragement, positivity, cheerfulness and for me personally, weight loss and exercise goals that I've asked them to ask me about. The majority of the providers are pleasant and seem to care about how I'm doing and how I've been improving."

"If I could, I would give this center zero stars. I went in for an initial consultation to see what my options were for correcting my lumbar issues. I am a fitness coach and nutritionist, and with the exception of my spine, I am an extremely healthy and fit individual. I was told in my initial appointment that I had to do blood work before they would even tell me what my options were. Against my better judgement, I did the blood work and then I never heard from them again. When I reviewed my blood work results, I saw that they had tested my blood for 22 different prescription and recreational drugs. This company is simply working the insurance system. The practicing medical professional did not provide thoughtful care nor did she act like she cared about helping me with my back pain. I recommend avoiding this spine center."

She explains in detail your options, the pros and cons. She never pushed for a decision. She gave me time to go home & discuss with my husband so we could choose the best course of action to help alleviate so of my pain."

"They could not care less about you. You will be scheduled for a 20 apt. 2 months out. In 5 months I was able to be seen twice by a PA. The PA will walk into the room without reviewing you chart and share their condescending opinion with you. Then schedule you 2 months later for the same thing. Without telling me the location, I was scheduled at their office 1.5 hours away from my house. When I got the text reminder a few days before my apt I brought this to their attention. They said I could reschedule for the next available appointment, you guessed it, 2 months later. You do have a choice. Please care enough about yourself and go somewhere else."
