"I have just made my final purchase at Home Depot. Here is why: On March 10th Luke and I paid for and ordered our cupboards, countertops, and all extras (molding, quarter round, etc.). The cupboards were delivered to our home on March 29th. They were on pallets stacked taller than the both of us combined. We were required to go out there and unload both pallets, some cabinets being ridiculously heavy and 10 feet in the air, in order for them to fit into our garage. We did it- miraculously nobody got hurt. The installer (Home Depot contracts out to a company called Crew2) came out and unboxed the cabinets to find that several were broken, and a few were missing completely. Our install was scheduled for the middle of April- home depot was going to “expedite” them to us. When the cabinets never showed up, we were forced to push our install date back TWICE. The replacement cabinets finally showed up to our door on May 11th THE DAY BEFORE OUR NEW INSTALL DATE (that was cutting it a little close- it took over a month to get our “expedited” cabinets). They were delivered in an employee’s personal vehicle by two people dressed in street clothes at 6PM. At this time, they were supposed to take the damaged cabinets away… but they didn’t know which ones they were supposed to take. Luke and I had to help them for over an hour figure out which ones they were supposed to return (in the meantime, Luke and I missed a huge chunk of a Mother’s day BBQ). The cabinets were installed in 2 days by a wonderful installer who did amazing work- absolutely no complaints there. Aside from the fact that on May 11th, they took extra pieces that we needed which, again, had to be brought to us which slowed down the process. The cabinets were finally in and we thought that the hard part was over. WRONG. The man came and measured for our countertops- 2 weeks later I called to see where the process was and THEY FORGOT TO SEND THE MEASUREMENTS IN. (Just to add, they wanted us to pay an extra $250 for an “unaccounted for piece”) It was going to be an additional 4-6 weeks. Keep in mind, Home Depot measured our kitchen in FEBRUARY. Don’t you think they could have had a rough estimate of the amount of countertop to order? Nope. They couldn’t even begin the order until NOW. We are now looking at JULY (still no definite day) for our countertops to be installed. WE ORDERED THEM MARCH 10TH. Until our countertops are installed, we are not able to have running water in our kitchen- no sink, no dishwasher, no fridge (water/ice function). When we call Home Depot, it seems that nobody knows what’s going on and if they do, they enjoy making up excuses. I knew that redoing an entire kitchen would take time. But when we hired Home Depot to do most of the work for us (all they were responsible for was the countertops and cupboards), we expected it to take less than FOUR MONTHS. Somewhere in the middle of this mess, we ordered our flooring from Home Depot which we were going to do ourselves. We had delivery scheduled for our appliances, so the floor had to be done before a certain date. We ordered with plenty of time. With only a week left to spare, I called to see where our flooring was because I had not received a call/email with the delivery confirmation. They guy on the phone was nice enough to tell me the floor had been in the warehouse at the store FOR OVER A WEEK and somebody must have “forgot to call me”."
"Drove 140 miles round trip to get a good price on product i required for Monday morning job... website said 19 boxes in stock... got there, zero inventory. Pro desk guy checked... his screen said 19 also... nada, zip, zero... not a single item in the store. Everyone said so sorry but that didn't cover the time and gas it took me to round trip 140 miles... very upsetting."
