Advanced Pain Management: Anuj Gupta, MD

"I arrived 15 minutes early as requested. While waiting to be seen, I filled out pages and pages of medical questions and signed multiple pages with my signature. That took at least 10 minutes to do. Meanwhile the doctor walked through the waiting room twice while talking on his cell phone. After 45 minutes, I asked the receptionist if Dr. Gupta was always this behind schedule and asked when I’d be seen. She said he was in a procedure right now (30 minutes after my appointment time) and she’d go ask him. She came back 5 minutes later and said that he was on his way. He came back a few minutes later and went into a room with another patient. 50 minutes after I arrived I’m taken into an exam room and introduced to a medical transcriber. He proceeded to ask all of the exact same questions I had answered in the papers. In addition to having to answer the same questions a second time, I found it uncomfortable to be asked these questions by someone who is not medically licensed. Why didn't he just look at my answers on the papers I filled out? At this point I had been there over an hour and asked when I’d be seeing the doctor. “He’s with another patient right now. I'm sorry for the wait, but I don't know” The staff was unprofessional, and the office seemed very disorganized. After waiting over an hour, and experiencing the lack of professionalism, I was not comfortable trusting my health care to this doctor. I asked for a refund of my co-pay but they didn’t know how to do that. So I left and followed up with an email requesting my refund Will be reporting to my health insurance."

"Dr pretends to care but the only thing he cares about is money from people. I had an appointment, waited close to an hr. I saw the dr for 5 mins. Scheduled me for another appoint, waited a month. On my second appointment he “reviews” my records, then he says “ your pain is not that bad” I’ll refer you to get a procedure. He never asked if needed medication to manage the pain or even asks about my pain level. Paid two copayments for nothing. In pain for two months and nothing. In addition to this, minimum paid clerks at the front, they act like they are doing you a favor. Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else."

"Dr Gupta is an amazing caring doctor. My one star is because his staff is not very helpful and they are rude. I drove from Fallbrook to pick up a brace for my back I called b4 to let the girl in the front desk know it would take me 40 min to get there. When I arrived the door was closed , after knocking for a bit she yelled and said hold on. So although it was hot and stuffy inside the building i waited about 20min the i went outside to get some fresh air. I called the office from outside and she put me on hold. My phone read 7min so i hung up called again she answered and said hold , i said NO! I've been waiting I'm in pain can you pls let me in so i can sit down she said can you hold ? Again I said NO ! i said why wont you let me in she said I'm on the opone with an insurance for another patient. I said okay so let ne in so i can sit down I'm in alot of pain She said. FINE! so i went back and door was still closed locked. I waited she finally opened the door i sat down on there very comfy couch and I felt so relieved my back was burning. She didnt talk to me she went back to the desk sat thr on the phone waiting for who knows what. Lobg story i sat waited for 20 min askes if there was anyone else that could help me. She said no. So i got up told her she was rude and i would talk to dr. I never got my brace i called several times left message never got a return call. No pain meds no appt no nothing. Getting a second opinion with another doctor Dr Gupta is very kind and caring if his staff doesn't respond the same way he does then theres no point in feeling good about going back."
