"The worst place ever…. I need to do the exam to see if I have strap and I am waiting more than 2 hours. And I had an appointment with the doctor. I would leave if I was not necessary"
"Saw Dr. Tseng a few years back telling him that I was rapidly gaining weight and in a lot of pain but I wasn’t pregnant. Not even after five minutes of us speaking he told me I was just obese and was going to send me home with a weight loss pamphlet. I had to insist he check my stomach. Turned out I had an ovarian cyst the size of a watermelon that was life threatening. I hope he isn’t patting himself on the back for that find. After my surgery to have it removed I went back for a check up with him and told him that my back was in a lot of pain and that I had a hard time standing and walking. All he did was send me home with muscle relaxers that didn’t even work. I decided to not to see him after that, and even other doctors I spoke to through Kaiser said it was “normal” and brushed me off for months afterward. To this day my back has never been the same since that surgery and it haunts me at my job. I would have gotten better empathy and listening skills from a block of ice, and it would have been warmer. Do better."
"I visited Dr Smelik for a physical, and he's a 5-star doctor who tailors his advice and seems passionate about this job. I was able to schedule an appointment within 2 weeks of requesting one, and I received lab results back within 1 day online, which is really fast. The reason I'm giving 4 stars, instead of 5 stars, is because the lady at the reception said all of my labs would cost $10. I made the payment at her kiosk, but never received an email receipt, and 1 week later I see that I owe an additional $110! I ultimately got this removed after filing appeal, but it still took 30 minutes of my time and a bit of stress."
"Management sucks. Medical staff no problem. Things getting worse. As an older person complaing about chest congestion I received a stat x ray on Fri. As of of 8 am Tues I still have not received a report from radiology. This appears to be acceptable by Kaiser Standards."
"I showed up twenty minutes early for blood tests and checked in at reception. I said I was diabetic and was fasting. She told me it didn’t say fasting but handed me a small cup for a urine specimen. I proceeded to the lab and there must have been eight people waiting. When one of the technicians came out I approached her and asked if I could be taken soon as my blood sugar was getting very low. She said she would speak to someone in the lab. Shortly thereafter a supervisory type emerged and said she wanted to speak to me. First she asked me when I checked in. I told her about a minute ago. Then she told me all these other people had appointments. I told her I had an appointment but she insisted I was just a walk in. She started arguing loudly in front of lab techs and people in the waiting room. I told her I was diabetic and my blood glucose was trending low very fast. I have to mention there is a sign on the wall in the waiting room stating it might be necessary to take some patients out of order due to certain circumstances. She said I would have to wait and she would see if she could fit me in. In disgust, I told her that RB was the worst facility of all the Kaiser locations and turned to leave, throwing my tiny paper bag with the tiny urine collection cup on the floor. She said she was going to report my violent behavior. I left there shaking. When I got home I tested my blood sugar and it was 68 or 70. Not good. I called member services to make a complaint. I related what transpired. The woman searched through some records and said I did indeed have an appointment today. Furthermore I checked my messages and the doctor told me I needed to be fasting. I was told a formal complaint would be filed. I have been a Kaiser member since 1991. I have been to many other Kaiser facilities and while my family doctor is fabulous, the rest of the facility is well below par."
