UC San Diego Health Maternal Fetal Care and Genetics – Sorrento Valley

"UC San Diego entire network of health providers is a nightmare. Appointments are difficult to get. Everything is backed up months, to a half year out. Been trying to get an appointment for anatomy scan for weeks. There is a window in which you need the scan, and my window begins next week. I've let them know on more than one phone call, I'm open to getting the scan at any of their locations. I was informed on call today, they haven't been able to get an appointment because I requested only Sorrento Valley location. Getting fed up with all of UC San Diego. Quit taking on new patients if you can't accommodate the ones you already have!"

"The student I was seen by was kind and talkative. I didn’t have any issues with thesonographers for both visits. I didn’t have a bad experience with my first fetal anatomy scan, but little guy was already past the typical age to scan, so it was harder to get images. I had to return for a follow up and the Medical Assistant who works at the desk gave me a hard time about bringing my son. It’s rather ridiculous as not everyone has daycare, family or extra money laying around to hire someone for a 20 minute visit, especially for an appointment that was last minute. I was able to bring him the first time around and nobody mentioned anything, yes it says on the placard, but for a women’s center it isn’t very friendly towards women. If they are worried about sickness, they should be properly decontaminating after every person who enters the room. From my observation the staff who wore masks had no issues and the ones who didn’t wear masks were the ones who wanted to give me a hard time. Lobby was clean Bathroom was clean, but you share with another room. Free parking, but usually packed."

"Rude sonographers both times. First time the sonographer was cold, no bedside manner and didn’t so much as check in about my comfort level despite the fact that she was pressing so hard i was wincing the entire procedure (the student she was with finally asked how I was doing) Second time the sonographer made me feel like I was inconveniencing her by asking a question and didn’t explain anything about the process ahead of time."

"Had our first in depth ultra sound at this location and some lab work completed right after. The front desk staff was kind, the ultrasound tech was warm and welcoming and made sure I was comfortable during the exam as well as talking through every motion or pressure she was doing, the lab tech Lupe was friendly and inviting. I will continue coming to this location throughout this pregnancy and future ones!"

"Dr Tarsa is an outstanding doctor, she did everything in her power to save our baby even with cancer and an opening cervix. No one wanted to step up to the plate but she did even against other doctor's opinions. We have a beautiful son in great part because of her courage. Front desk staff is kind and attentive, this place is a hidden gem of the UCSD Medical system. Thank you!"
