"I’ve been getting mammograms annually for the last 20 years. I’ve become accustomed to the unpleasantness of it and actually had some pleasant surprises along the way. Nice techs who made it less painful and definitely less awkward. What I went through today at Scripps Carmel Valley was the worst experience I ever had with mammogram. The technician was so aggressive, rude and all together unpleasant. I would recommend looking for a different location just for the chance you would run into her."
"The radiologist here is awful. I would highly discourage anyone from going to him and instead get imaging done at literally anywhere else or at any other Scripps location. He blatantly lied about what he saw on my ultrasound because I was “too young” to have PCOS in his opinion. My primary doctor suspected that I have PCOS because I have all the symptoms and lab work to match it. I was not able to get the diagnosis and seek treatment at Scripps because despite having multiple cysts clearly shown on my ultrasound, this radiologist doesn’t believe in young women having this. He called what he saw “normal.” I got a second opinion because I wasn’t going to have this man tell me he didn’t see anything or that it’s not a big deal. Two other radiologists at other places not affiliated with Scripps quickly acknowledged and confirmed I have PCOS after seeing my ultrasounds. So luckily, I can now seek treatment somewhere else. But women shouldn’t have to do this and jump through hoops to receive medical care. Doctors like this radiologist are a part of the problem in women’s health. They create barriers for all women. Doctors like this are the reason that some women don’t seek out help and aren’t taken seriously. Doctors like this make people’s physical and mental health worse by minimizing (and actually completely dismissing) legitimate serious health issues that impacts every aspect of someone’s life. Doctors like this contribute to the lack of knowledge and stigma around PCOS and its symptoms. Absolutely unacceptable and disgraceful."
"We went to the Scripps Express clinic for our sick son. We realize we were walk-ins and there would be a wait, but we waited for three hours without being seen, the last hour of which there was no one else in the waiting room. They refused to give us a time estimate when we first arrived."
"Daughter just went to Scripps express told them we were maxed out on our deductible but they insisted she pay the co pay or no service. Happened to my wife a couple months ago. Called Scripps billing and they said that’s not there policy but they can’t control their managers Management needs to get there act together and treat customers as if they appreciate them."
"My issue is with the OB/GYN office: During my pregnancy, I had concerns as when the ultrasound was done to confirm how far along I was I told the tech I could feel the pain in my back and that it was an 11, but they insisted it was fine with a worried look on their face. A few days later, I was at Encinitas ER (much better tech there) and having a miscarriage at 7wks. Fast forward to a week ago, I saw the PA with concerns about my fertility as I have pcos that was managed before my pregnancy, but is out of wack again. I became a bit emotional while telling her about my concerns and had tears streaming down my face. I’d informed her my cramps feel like glass moving through me now, my lower back always hurts, I can’t lose weight, I’ve missed half my periods this year, which hasn’t happened in 9yrs, and that I sometimes have pain during intimate times. She immediately dove into asking about me doing therapy and how I should see a therapist or my primary so they can put me on Zoloft. I was immediately taken aback, tears still rolling down my face, and confused as she went on to explain I needed to get my mood swings in check now and if I plan to continue trying to get pregnant. None of my questions were answered just a “we’ll schedule labs and an ultrasound,” but me being medicated because, heaven forbid this was an emotional thing for me, was more important. I didn’t know women feeling emotional about their fertility was abnormal nor that this woman was a license psychiatrist. Never again will I step foot in that office!"
