Kaiser Permanente San Jose Attended Sleep Medicine Lab

"Difficult to get appointments, just wanted to get same cpap refill supplies but have to jump through multiple hoops. Kaiser has been very frustrating to deal with overall."

"A waste of time. I came at my scheduled time of 7:30pm and commenced the study at their requested time of 9:30pm. However, throughout the rest of the night, I kept getting woken up by the noises right outside my room. From people talking as they're walking by (or around the corner to my room), to water running, equipment being moved/worked on, doors opening/shutting, all happening right outside or directly behind my room. I was fed up and ready to leave at 11:30pm but asked for earplugs and when they produced some, I tried that. I still got woken up several times. There will be recordings throughout the night of my verbalizations every time I became fully conscious. From my observations, (compared to the Stanford Sleep Medicine Center) the 'sleep lab' on the in San Jose is basically a couple of offices that were converted into sleeping quarters, but were otherwise not soundproofed and there are no policies in place for quiet arrangements throughout study nights and poor staff training. It was so bad, I can honestly say one could get a better sleep in a motel by the highway. I have requested a do-over but waiting to hear back from them."

"I found the staff to be knowledgable and effective. The process may take some folks out of their comfort zone. But I felt well cared for and slept 8 hours a night... plus they identified that I had a potententially serious condition."
