The Mikado Hotel
About the Business
The Mikado Hotel, located at 331 1st Street in Los Angeles, California, is a historic lodging institution dating back to 1914. Originally designed by architect Alfred F. Priest, the 3-story building has been meticulously restored to its former glory. The first floor features glazed white brick, while the upper levels are made of buff brick, showcasing typical early 20th-century American commercial architecture.
The Mikado Hotel, formerly known as the Shreveport Hotel during World War II, offers 42 micro-suites with modern amenities such as kitchenettes and private bathrooms. The building also houses a rooftop lounge and courtyard for guests to enjoy. The hotel's ground floor is home to various commercial and retail establishments, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the neighborhood.
After sitting vacant for over 30 years, the Mikado Hotel was purchased by Capital Foresight in 2014 and has since undergone a complete renovation. The management of the hotel ensures equal housing opportunities and non-discrimination laws are fully complied with.

"It's a great place if you want to live alone. Rooms are super small. Anyways it was what I needed. In case of deposits, tbere is no point cleaning your rooms before you leave because they will charge you $100 anyways. I spent whole day cleaning my room and they still charged me $100."
"Yes, the place is great for a single guy like me. aside from being surrounded by nice and affordable restaurants, It’s very quiet, clean and safe. ms jacqueline - the manager is awesome, very helpful and friendly."
"Mikado Hotel Little Tokyo: air conditioning was not working for 42 days from early July 2022 through mid-August 2022 (grounds for a negligence lawsuit) and 20 days from mid-April 2022 to early May 2022. Air conditioning and heating don't work for at least eight days every month, the washers and dryers do not work 3-14 days every month, and Cannon Management acts like they cannot do anything to fix it. Do not apply nor live at Mikado Hotel Little Tokyo at all. I have been a resident here for 1 year and two months and am leaving in the next two weeks."
"Jesse is a fantastic manager. He has wonderful communication skills and kind-hearted personality. He helped me to solve the issues I had in the best possible way, and he really cared about people that live there and the job he had. I think Mikado Little Tokyo is very lucky to have Jesse working for them."
"I moved into the Mikado two weeks ago. The process to get in was long and confusing. But now that I’m here it was totally worth the wait and pain. This building is beautiful, like a secluded sanctuary. Jesse, my agent, has been helpful and professional, too. Highly recommend as an efficient and beneficial living space!!"
