"I went to the Scripps Mercy Hospital ER on 3/7/24. It was the best ER. The guards outside the ER made sure the wheelchair was ready for me. They were very understanding about our car park outside and told my husband not to worry and wait till I was checked in before moving the car. The ER lobby was bright and clean and big. I was registered and was immediately seen by a dedicated Triage RN. The triage nurse used a new BP cuff for every patient. i was a post op kidney stone patient(4 days) with a BP of 92/61 just before i left my house; very weak and fatigue, bladder spasms and still with a lots of blood in my urine from the stents. Within 10-15 minutes I was wheeled into a room. The nurses and staff were responsive to my needs with a caring attitude. The ER doctor, Dr. Karen Virginia Morgan, did a comprehensive work-up, and was very warm, friendly and compassionate. She even called my surgeon at UCSD to ask him questions about my surgery. Seeing a cross in my room and the registering office was very comforting. Nurses and staff were all doing their job without all the chitchatting going on in the last ER i was in. I saw them walking patients and assisting them in going into a bathroom in the lobby. Dr. Morgan called me early morning today 3/8/24 to inform me that my urine culture results are not in yet but was concerned about the bacteria in my urine. So she ordered an antibiotic for me right away. It’s very rare that doctors call you these days. It’s always by email. She said she will call me again when the culture results come in. Excellent doctor who really cares about her patient! Thank God for doctors like her. I was at the UCSD Hillcrest ER earlier that day but left for their poor service, uncaring attitude, and awful ER lobby. I left after 45 minutes without any communication as to when i will be seen. The difference between the UCSD ER and the SCRIPPS Mercy Hospital ER is night and day."
"In April 2023, I collapsed, unconscious in Point Loma sustaining a head injury, five fractured vertebrea and after numerous expert diagnostic testing by incredibly laser focused medical staff it was determined open heart surgery had to be performed as I had 70% blockage in 4 of my arteries. Having no choice in where I was initially taken by ambulance or who would be attending or treating I soon found myself in th expert hands of Dr Hemp, his exemplary team, Jennifer Gallagher, Cheryl Healy and Nurse Claire in the ER and neurologist Dr Kevin (Henry) and so many others that I unfortunately don't recall names or shift but am so very grateful they stood by my side. From the compassionate EMT' s who scooped me up from the hard cold cement covered in blood barely conscious and confused, to the expert Cardio Rehab Team Amaila, (ti amor) Nurse Linda, Robert (hey Rob) at Scripps Mercy, I remain forever grateful."
"Six days ago, my parents were hospitalized following a severe car accident, and since then, they've faced numerous life-threatening issues. I've been diligently communicating with the medical staff, but there's been no definitive improvement. Regarding my mom, during her therapy session, she was left unattended and instructed to press a red button for assistance, despite not speaking English. Despite pressing it multiple times, the nurse couldn't comprehend her language, resulting in her fainting, exacerbating her already critical condition due to blood loss. As for my dad, he underwent a significant head surgery, leading to unexpected complications. Despite his previous ability to perform basic functions independently, such as walking and using the restroom, he's now experiencing deterioration, unable to urinate for two days. Despite our inquiries, the doctors have provided no clear explanation for his decline."
"AVOID EMERGENCY ROOM IF YOU CAN...go to UCSD instead. you will thank yourself. I recently made the opposite mistake of going to Scripps when trying to decide which emergency room I needed to go to. There's a lot I can say although I'll keep it short and sweet. The staff was highly unprofessional, the staff in the emergency room. The nurses were cold at best, facetious and uninterested in feedback. I found them unprofessional as they would stand there and gossip about each other and patience right in front of me as though there was no shame in their game. It was a huge disappointment I'll never go there knowing UCSD is right down the road. Let this be a warning you don't want to make the mistake I made."
"I suddenly went into shock from severe abdominal pain, threw up some and was sweating so much I was soaking wet. I was writhing in pain on the floor, I couldn’t think straight and I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t stop shaking for over an hour after the pain started to fade. The pain easily fell into one of the top 3 most painful experiences of my life. I can’t stop thinking about how bad it was and I’m honestly terrified. They ran no tests and told me it might be ovulation pain. Not even blood work, a pregnancy test, literally nothing. I’ve never even had ovulation pain and I’ve been on my birth control for several years now, with nothing like this ever happening. Please can someone tell me anyone ever who has ever had symptoms like that from ovulation? I have an incredibly high pain tolerance and I’m so confused right now. When I think of the pain, I’m terrified. I feel guilty for going to the doctors and next time I’m in pain, I don’t want to go. The thought of being intimate in the future with my husband terrifies me. I’m so afraid there is something wrong with me and my abdomen is sore and tight feeling. I don’t want to do anything active for a long time. I can’t believe my pain was reduced to ovulation, when I don’t even get a period. I feel like I was stereotyped as this dramatic woman. I’m so exhausted and I feel so out of it from the pain I went through. Anytime I think about it, I just want to cry because it was terrifying."
