"Evidently, my highly-esteemed cardiac surgeon finds much to like about this hospital, but surely that can't include some aspects of the ICU nor the Progressive Care Unit. One of the ICU nurses, Peter, treated his poor mentee unbelievably badly, which definitely didn’t help either one of us. Nor did his sarcasm towards everyone he spoke to. That he said something like “get those knees up when you’re walking” as I left ICU shortly after open-heart surgery might indicate his anger or aggression towards who-knows-what. Two of the nurses I had in the Progressive Care Unit should really consider a career change; one of them always spoke to me as if I were either about 20 months old (I'm not) or an untrained pet (again, not). I suspect that the problems with both the ICU and PCU point towards crummy management, certainly one that can be vastly improved. Several of the staff WERE very good or even excellent, though, sadly, that didn’t include one of the post-op cardiologists, Dr O. He just blew clouds of words, telling me nothing I didn’t know, and blowing me off when I responded to his “how are you feeling?” with an honest answer, thinking he really meant what he was asking. I didn’t realize it was, for him, a phatic question. The food, with added sugar and too much saturated fat for anyone, has been comically awful. Note the expiration date of the pineapple compared to the date on the receipt in the photo of one meal, and the bent fork tine from the next dinner. You just can’t make up this stuff. And c’mon, so much meat, and eggs with cheese almost every morning, for a “heart healthy” diet?!? That’s bad for ANY diet, IMHO. Now, of course, this is my single 12-day experience with this hospital. Perhaps it has worked out better for others in other situations, and I just had seriously bad luck. I just know that I would never want anyone else to experience what I have here."
"Andrew in pre op made my daughters surgery easy going in. Great staff professional, friendly and kind. MATHEW.. who could be anything he wants, saved us absolutely professional knowledgeable and calm under pressure one of the best RNs we have ever met. Can't thank him enough."
"I have to have a series of surgeries and my surgeon uses Mercy Hospital in Sacramento. I'm from another state and after flying in, was incredibly nervous about my surgery. From the moment I got to the hospital, to the moment I left, they were absolutely incredible. The staff in the registration area were fast and fun to talk to. When I got upstairs to prep for surgery, I had a great gentleman named Andrew who was personable and made my process so comfortable. The surgical team was so nice. I was taken upstairs after recovery and another set of amazing peopne were there to help. I had a team of nurses there and one was named Shirley and so was the other one. All of the staff I came into contact with was truly delightful. I feel really good about having to have the rest of my surgeries here."
"I was so happy with the level of care and compassion for staff provided for my family. They have a beautiful facility that was very clean and impressive. They had a very relaxing garden out near their back parking lot and even a tranquil fountain with benches to eat lunch near their main lobby. The security guard at the main entrance made me feel safe and I am personally glad they are still asking all visitors to wear masks. They have a fully stocked cafeteria, as well as vending machines for any late night snacking needs. This hospital is apparently known for doing very complicated heart surgeries using the Newest technology and valve replacement procedures."
