Dominican Hospital

"This hospital's motto is "Care with listening, empathy, and love" and has "Hello Human Kindness" plastered all over their walls. It would sure be nice if the security team they hired lived up to either of those things. I get that that have a job to do. But when your father is having emergency heart surgery, multiple complications, and a heart that won't restart so now he's on ECMO until he passes... Kicking the grieving and distressed family out of three, THREE! waiting rooms, then telling them "You guys can't hang out here all day..." Are. You. Kidding. Me. First of all, guess what Mr./Ms. I Have A Shiny Badge, this hospital is the LAST place we want to ""hang out"". We would love to be at home with our father and family, instead of sitting in uncomfortable waiting room chairs, dreading whatever news we are going to get next. Second of all, we did NOTHING disruptive. We were clean, quite and respectful. Some of us were here from out of state and just wanted every opportunity to comfort each other. Our only saving grace (because Administration couldn't have cared less) was the nurses doing their best to help us. They advocated for us and made sure we were able to be where we NEEDED to be. Those nurses and the surgeons deserve a full 5 stars, but the security literally only added to our stress, anxiety and grief. That is unacceptable. So. Step. Off. Let people grieve without your power trip. Have some of that empathy your hospital is so proud of."

"Inconsistent policies result in worse care. I was told I had to in the way in the hallway if the surgical area because waiting in the waiting room is not allowed. I use this just as one example of how dysfunctional this place is. The security guards don’t appear to know the policy and they follow it without reason or understanding. The doctor called us to tell the nurse they are needed."

"2/3/2024- A Female security told us to put on masks after being there for 2 hours and many staff members were not wearing masks or wearing them properly. At no time did any medical professional challenge us not wearing a mask. Many patients were not wearing masks. Female security came back again and said this was our second warning and if we didn’t comply she would call the police and ask us to leave. Even after pointing out nurses and doctors not wearing masks they replied with they are or they are putting one on. The security was jeopardizing the health of my husband forcing us to wait outside and wait in the rain because we would not wear a mask. Staff members came in and out without masks and nothing was said. Nurses called for us and we said they will have to finish treatment outside because we are no longer aloud inside without a mask. Our attending doctor came out with his mask off his face below the chin and when we pointed that out security ignored us. So much for human kindness. I was in the same ER 2 weeks ago and was never asked to wear a mask during my entire visit. Many staff at that time were not wearing them either."

"Needed urgent care, they got to me immediately. Doctor started working on me while they registered me , no wasted time. Doctor and nurses were efficient, focused and worked as a team with minimal conversation. They saved my life. Total Professionals. Thank you Dominican Hospital."

"Do yourself a favor, die at home. It'll be far less painful than trying to get treatment here. I've currently spent 7 hours waiting for x-ray results. I'm told I have another 4 to wait. I've been instructed the best thing I can do is complain here and other public places. How incredibly sad Edit: the nurses, doctors and staff were incredibly kind. The decision to outsource ER x-rays is moronic."
