"I was admitted for spinal tumor cord surgery on Parnassus in Dec 2015. My surgeon was among the nation's best. This well known outdated state teaching hospital is well below all earlier reputational standards. I was there 2 weeks as a result of my previous day critical spinal tumor surgery and subsequent heart attack during the night. I was to be discharged in 2 DAYS minus the heart attack. MY PARTNER AT A NEARBY HOTEL WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT MY HEART ATTACK. Afterwards I had become sick with diarrhea and had been unable to reach the toilet. The non-English speaking housekeeping staff never cleaned up then or during my stay. My bed linen was not changed in 2 weeks. No toothbrush or paste, no cheap razor, no towels made available. Medical support staff was either absent or indifferent to housekeeping inadequacies and my personal hygiene and safety. I begged for a shower just before discharge. Bureaucrats strolled the hallways disinclined to even render a "hello." Publicly funded civil service staffed institutional ethos prevails. I feel as though I'm writing this from what could have been my grave. UCSF Hospital, Parnassus, is not recommended."
"I was in the ICU for two nighst and the transitional care floor for almost two weeks. I rate this a five. Phenomenal care, outstanding, professional, and kind staff. Every single one. I am very grateful to live in an area to be able to have care at this facility."
"I'm being held hostage. We arrived at 2 AM and have not even done anything than get ibuprofen for severe back pain for 3 days. It is 9 AM and nothing has been done. Nothing. This is not a reflection of the individual doctors or nurses. They are polite and caring. This ER needs an operations manager or, as it says on the wall, "Flow and Care Manager"."
"This is a combined rate: 5+stars for nurses (they amazing!!!!!) and 3 stars to doctors. And again some doctors deserved 5 stars (attending doctors change every 3-4 days, then they will pass you to the next doctor). By the time the last doctor during my son’s admission took over, he completely misrepresented the diagnosis all previous specialists had given my son based on test results and history of the illness, as well as the main reason my son was admitted to the hospital. He also refused to provide a consultation with specialists my son’s PCP requested. Beautiful view from a private room on 13th floor"
"Excellent facility. Staff and care is exceptional. Several courtyards and gardens for family and friends to relax while waiting. Nice views of Golden Gate Park, the Presidio and downtown Huntsville from several terraces around the student union. Parking is of course a bit pricey. The do offer discounts for handicap and UCSF badged personnel. Food options are limited but good. Food vendors close at 6:00pm."
