Lake Piru Recreation Area
About the Business
Lake Piru Recreation Area is a beautiful campground, park, and store located at 4780 Piru Canyon Road in Piru, California. Although the swimming season has come to a close, there are still plenty of activities to enjoy, such as water skiing, tubing, and boating with a Coast Guard approved flotation device. The institution is currently undergoing a drawdown of the reservoir level to help with flood mitigation and groundwater recharge in the surrounding areas. This will not affect activities such as swimming, fishing, and boating during the summer months. With 238 sites for RVs, campers, trailers, and tents, as well as amenities like restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities, Lake Piru is the perfect place to escape city life and enjoy the great outdoors. Visitors can also take advantage of the marina store, boat rentals, shoreline fishing, water sports, picnicking, playgrounds, disc golf, and more. The institution has recently made improvements to the area and offers an online reservation system for added convenience. For a fun and relaxing getaway less than an hour's drive from Los Angeles, Lake Piru Recreation Area is the perfect destination.

"it was really nice and pretty to see the lake full once again. wish they could keep it like that. But unfortunately they can't, the lakes water has to supply the Ranchers and spreading grounds in surrounding areas."
"I love camping here. It is reasonably priced, spacious, and so wonderfully quiet. The camp hosts are always so helpful and kind."
"Great experience, had a lot of fun camping here with my friends and family. The only downside was that there were a lot of parties going on which I didn't mind until they were still partying after lighouts out (at 10 PM) but I don't blame the camp hosts for that so I give piru five stars!"
"Took the family camping here. The wife thought it was too close to other campers but liked our spot. We played in the designated swim area. It was very murky but the water felt great and the kids loved it. I like that there was clean portapotties and flowing water nearby. Our site was shaded but there were others that had no shade whatsoever. The water in the lake was a bit icky but we go in it anyway. There was a store close enough that we were able to make runs if necessary. Our site was quiet time from 10 pm to 8 am and they definitely made sure. The location allowed for us to get a great look at the sky once the sun went down. Perfect site for star gazing. We didn’t get to rent water crafts but the lake is wide open. If you bring your own or rent one you will have a great time. Not very many people fishing and we unfortunately didn’t get the opportunity. All in all, we will return but this time with better planning. We went on a first time trip and never having went camping as a group before and the trip turned out solid. If you’re second guessing or trying to find a good introductory spot to take the family, this is a good one. Make sure to bring a shaded canopy or some sort of covering in case you don’t get a shaded spot."
"I have not been camping here but the lake is nice! After the rains early this year, the lake is the most full I have seen! No reception when going up the mountain. There's a store at the bottom just before coming up the mountain I don't think there's a store at the actual lake so try to bring everything you will need. There are several picnic areas but during the weekend it gets really packed in the summer so you will need to go early to reserve those picnic spots as it's first come first served. Since the lake is really full, there is only a tiny area where you can swim on the shore and that kinda sucks. We always take the boat so we get the full experience. The water is pretty choppy, it can get windy. There are little coves all around the lake that if you have a boat, you can drive out and find a spot on the coves. It's super nice to do that because like I said it gets packed. Dog friendly, it does get super hot during the summer and there are a lot of dogs so keep that in mind. There are restrooms on the shore just a little off the dock and also there are multiple floating bathrooms on the lake."
