"We arrived at 9:30AM for good lighting conditions and less crowd. Comfortable 70 degrees, with plenty of shades. Lotus was in full bloom filling the entire lake. Well worth the 1.5 hour drive from SF Bay Area. Tips: bring a step ladder and long lens to take pictures, since the flowers grow about 5 feet high above the water."
"The Duck Pass and Pika Lake Trail begins behind the coldwater campground, not far from Mammoth Mountain. The large, grand, austere mountain lake tucked in the John Muir Wilderness is close enough for a day hike from Mammoth Lakes, but far enough that it still offers solitude to those who want it. You will have the opportunity to make it to Arrowhead Lake, Skelton Lake, and Barney Lake from side trails stemming from this route. It is a beautiful hike that intersects with the historic John Muir Trail. The trail ends at Duck lake where you will enjoy beautiful views of the John Muir Wilderness. If you are looking for a trail that is surrounded by alpine lakes, then this is the trail for you."
"Beautiful flowers and good air in the morning, good for everyone. This lotus pond view best season is last week of June to first week of July, but even I came here on third week of July still beautiful."
"On the way to Redding for my road trip 6/15/20. I was stopping here for short time. It is nice park with friendly people,a lot of lotuses blooming and flooding on the little lake, Rock garden, ducks, zoo, some walking paths .... it has a lot more to see in here. I saw a some photographers with professional camera taking a pictures of lotuses blooming. I have to keep going for my next nature beauty “Sundial Bridge”, but I will come back here and spend more time."
