Ramona Grasslands Preserve

"Nice short trail, smooth wide pathway, child & elderly friendly. Met some nice folks riding horseback. Lots of squirrels, and birds of prey. Well maintained trail only found one piece of trash . With the deputy, both ponds are bone dry. Very few wildflowers with lack of water."

"A group of us hiked the trails of Ramona Grasslands Preserve one afternoon. Great scenery along the trails. Trail signs were easy to follow. Passed by a couple sets of horseback riders. Free Range cattle were in the area. Saw Red Tailed Hawks flying overhead. We ended up with 4-miles of hiking and then decided to visit one of the nearby wineries!"

"Simply amazing! Super easy hike with great views and lots of great photo ops. Our day the weather was perfect and the skies were clear. We could see for miles. Love the strolling cattle and horses on the trail. We went on a weekend and a park ranger was there to answer questions and had a display of local flora and fauna. There's a couple different loops, both short and easy. There is a little bit of an elevation change but peaks quickly then you're headed back down. The trail had only a few people on it and lots friendly dogs to pet and plenty of hawks to watch. Bring water as always and be prepared to want to go back again. Only draw back (not really for me because I love to watch aircraft land) is this place is right under the glide path for Ramona airport. All in all a great day on a great trail!"

"A lovely trail loop that starts with a deceptively mild incline and goes on longer than you imagine! The vistas are beautiful, full skies with mountains and lovely landscapes in the foreground. I am not fond of [actually I'm quite scared] of the free range cows and had an encounter with a rather curious calf. He scooted once I verbally shooed him away. It's a great 2 mile hike on the main wildflower loop with lovely trees and an easy path to follow."
