Mariachi Plaza Hotel

"They canceled my reservation without my consent 2 DAYS PRIOR TO CHECK-IN. The man behind the counter hung up on me while I was explaining the situation the one time he actually answered the phone & was incredibly rude. He refused to refund me even though he canceled my reservation 2 days before I landed without even telling me. I just landed and have no hotel for my weekend in LA now. I got refunded through Expedia at least and they booked me a free stay at the Ramada. I had to set up alerts with my bank & call the police to prevent fraudulent transactions from this hotel. If I see any fraudulent transactions as another reviewer here experienced I will be taking the owner to court and to jail. Avoid this place. 0/5"

"I have good reasons to recommend everyone who has money to stay away from this place. The first and last advantage of staying here is location. Mariachi Plaza just across the street, where Mariachi practice in the evenings. Cheap, but great restaurant with excellent mexican food. Nearby - bar with pool for reasonable prices. Rooms in hotel have working fridge and microwave and there is hot water in the bathroom. You know what else is in the bathroom? Cockroaches. There is one bathroom on each floor. Avoid the bottom one because of that. Also ants, but that's much better to bear. There is a problem if you want to lock yourself while taking shower, so take someone to watch out or just use the bathroom above. It's not so destroyed, a bit cleaner and more convenient to use. Though stay away from sink as well. And don't go there barefoot. Our room was also interesting. Glass in window was broken. Bedclothes were clean, but had cigarette burns. Cleaning staff never reaches top of "wardrobe" (don't expect shelves or drawers). The state of floor made me keep on my shoes every time. Because of that every baggage that couldn't be hung on the pole we kept on the table or sofa - at least it was covered in leather, so clean. If you land on ground floor, forget about ventilating room (which can be done by just sliding away the roller blinds - broken window). There is strong scent of smoke. We hadn't any problems with staff, also the cleaning maid was very nice (I really don't envy working in such place). Yes, you get what you pay for. But bathroom... please."

"Very bad management! Don't waste your money and time, I made a reservation two days in advance and arrived at the hotel. They told me the office is closed. I didn't even get an email! They said we're sorry and I could not find anywhere to stay and when I said what to do, the manager said "if you don't leave the hotel we will call the police". YOUR $1 İS İMPORTANT THAN THİS MANAGMENT!"

"They lost my 1st reservation. Pull up and saw barred windows. Saw homeless people inside the property. Demanded a refund after the second reservation. HUng up on me 3 times. Wouldn't respond to emails for refund. Only getting 200 dollars from Booking. Com Then they tried to charge my card twice on th 3rd and 4th for same amount .forced to cancel my card and order a new one. Sally Palmiter"

"For the price, location and staff this hotel is awesome. It's my first time in California and I love the vintage uniqueness. Everyone is really nice. The room is clean with plenty of natural light. Things to note are that the hotel offers secure safe parking for $10 and there are shared bathrooms."
