"I almost never leave negative reviews but I had an incredibly unpleasant experience. I came in asking for the most minor basic trim and a blow out. I was informed (after she had already began cutting my hair) that the stylist had just recently graduated from school. This was very obvious as she asked for help and the haircut itself took an insane amount of time. She also didn’t blend any of the front pieces with the back. She told me she didn’t know how to do a blow out, and would instead put curls in my hair. She tried to curl my hair while it was still damp, and the curls looked so bad that I actually asked her to stop so I could just do it myself when I got home. My hair wound up being choppy, shorter than I wanted, and unstyled. It looked considerably better when I walked in the door. I almost never get my hair done and i was so sad when I walked out the door. If you’re going to have a new stylist be doing people’s hair you need to inform them prior or offer a discount so that they don’t come in with wildly different expectations than what the reality is. This led me to having to book a different appointment at a different place to fix the “trim” I got. I cannot imagine what the result would’ve been if I would’ve asked for anything more complicated."
"Space was inviting, my stylist Anna was so sweet and spent a lot of time with getting my hair just right."
"Angi has been cutting and/or coloring my hair for the past 2 years or so. She is kind and knowledgeable (and fun to talk to!) and has given me so much great advice on how to take care of my curly hair. My hair has gone from limp, frizzy waves to bouncy, hydrated, well-defined curls in the past 2 years because of her haircuts and advice. She is thorough with consultations and will be honest and tell you if something you requested isn't going to work. I highly recommend her and the Loft in general!"
"Angi is the best! I get very nervous about coloring and cutting my hair because of the type of hair I have and she made me feel at ease by making sure she knew exactly what I wanted. I did a balayage and a cut and it turned out perfect!"
"I've been to this salon three times. The first two times was just for a cut, but both times I liked the haircut and the stylist enough to come in for a color. The last time I had my hair colored professionally was July 2021. I went from a faded teal/green to purple and it turned out really well. I went to a salon called Cajah salon in St. Paul, MN. For the color and 20% tip I paid $290. This time around I saw Angi at the Loft salon. I had originally messaged her on instagram asking what to book and to get a quote. I said I didn't want to change the color too much, but I knew I would need a color correction. She quoted me $350, which I was fine with even though it seemed a little on the pricier side. When I got to the salon I showed her my inspiration pictures (attached to this review). Basically, I wanted to go from hot pink to bright, firetruck engine red, so not a huge change, just like I mentioned in my DM. I started getting worried during the color removal process, when she suggested I go a little darker and have just a bright red "money piece" to brighten around the face. I agreed because I trust the professional and also I just really liked Angi. She's really cool and great to chat with. Essentially, I paid $400 for my hair to come out almost exactly the same as when I went in. Obviously the roots were touched up, but the color on the shafts of my hair was exactly the same all over my head. I went home to look at it in different lighting and asked some friends, all of which said they couldn't tell I had anything done whatsoever. I was extremely disappointed, so I emailed the salon my before and after pictures and explained what happened. I fully understand the root retouch charge, but the $300 color correction charge, I think, is outrageous. Especially because I know I spent over $100 less a year prior at an equally well-reviewed salon for an actual color change. It's been a full week since I called the salon and asked them to review my email and address the situation, and I still haven't heard back. I think it reflects poorly on them that they won't refund me half of what I paid, considering they claim to back the quality of their work. I have never written a negative review for a business before, but this is the last resort. TLDR: I paid $400 to have my hair color look the same as when I came in and the salon will not respond to my asking for a partial refund. I have the before and after pictures attached to this review. The before was taken just three days prior to the appointment, with the hair in the clip. EDIT: I am not the kind of person that would not leave a tip for a service. Both before and after pictures shown were taken outside in natural lighting. It's unfortunate that I've tried to be as kind as possible and my kindness in paying, tipping, posing for pictures, and not causing a scene in the salon is being taken as "baffling". As stated, I wanted to see the color in different lighting and get some second opinions from friends at home before saying anything. I was really hoping to get some of my money back but I see now that will not be happening. I did not mean in any way to critique Angi's work or imply that she is not great at what she does. I got a nice even color, but for $400 I was just hoping for a little bit of a change (i.e. pink to red). I appreciate the salon's response."
