Scripps Coastal Medical Center Encinitas OB-GYN - 332 Santa Fe

"I had a very unpleasant experience with the front desk lady of the birthing center. The cashier has no clue about the self pay program and the details of billing system. When i had my cervix open for 4cm they were still discharging me back home and just being back and forth of the hospital is very painful. I have only seen my doctor 2 times and she canceled my appointment as if it is not important. I’m very frustrated and disappointed because we did pay a good money for prenatal care but overall experience is unprofessional and bad. I don’t recommend this hospital or so far the ob i have received is terrible."

"So far, my husband and I have had an incredible experience with our midwife, Erin Phillips, and Dr. Mariah Grace. We leave every time and say "Wow, I love them". No joke! I'm 19 weeks pregnant and will update this after birth, but as of now we couldn't feel more grateful. I saw their overall rating and felt it was wrong to not write how much we have loved Scripps + our care providers. I always come in nervous and leave with a huge weight off my shoulders after they answer all of my questions as a first-time mom. Truly grateful for the kind, calm care we have received from Erin & Dr. Grace."

"So I waited 2 months to finally be seen by an OBGYN with scripps as a new patient. Over the weekend before my appointment the scripps portal was hacked and scripps did not let their patients know when the site would be back up. I did not receive a reminder call. So since I could not see the exact time since portal was down I called to try to confirm bcuz I couldn't tell what location and exact time (I knew it was just Encinitas and either 1 or 130pm) and in their words, "unfortunately we can't confirm since portal is down, but we will honor your appointment" So I go to Encinitas and arrive at 1pm but bcuz they're are 3 different OBGYNs on that same lot I didn't get to the exact location until 30 mins later. Strangely enough, each location did have the schedule but when I called they couldnt confirm??? Ok.... so when I get to the correct office, the front desk receptionist said I was 30mins later. Like... ok well portal is down and I didn't know my exact location or time and I was running around the campus lot trying to find the right one. She then asked if I was a new patient, which I said yes. She then proceeded to ask if I have my health records printed from portal... which left me so confused and baffled, why and never was I told to print out my records. And how can I even print out my records if i can't even access portal??? She then tells me to wait and talks to the doc only to come out and tell me they weren't gonna see me. I asked if I could just see the doc to get more info about their OBGYN process since I am new to this. And she just told reschedule with a different location that's closer to home since appointmentsare 2 months out(I live in oceanside). Well I call the location off Jefferson and they wouldn't let me reschedule bcuz portal was down. I asked when was the latest date she could recall and she said June at the minimum and couldn't get me a confirmation of when portal would be back up and that I should just called when it is back up. When I told my spouse, they went into rage mode as the active duty military already gets low tier health care within their systems. And when they tried to call to complain to the manager, they just told us to hold and hung up on us. When we called back they said a third party will reach out to us, and guess what? Yeah they never did... I wish Scripps could have accommodated better especially since their portal was down, but we have ultimately decided outsource a different fertility center that will take care of us better."

"I feel the ratings don't reflect the solid care that I've received through TWO pregnancies with Dr. Fenton and Erin Phillips. I have also been asked to reschedule a couple of appointments due to surgeries and emergencies - which I had no issue with. It makes sense to me that someone's care at the hospital who needs immediate care SHOULD be a priority over my routine, office visit. The staff at this facility have always taken great care of me. They are friendly, professional, and courteous. Additionally, the care I received at the hospital during delivery was also phenomenal. We remember nurse's names and smiling faces. Some of the nurses who were not even our actual treating staff, came to see us after delivery to see the baby. We have always felt like we received the best, personal experience here. I would recommend to anyone!"

"I would give zero stars if possible. WORST office ever! I have made three appointments here and they have canceled all three of them on me with no notice. No regard for your time. The first I sat in the waiting room for 20 minutes when they finally came out and told me I had to reschedule. The second and third time I was on the way there when they called to cancel. I have taken time off work three separate times and still have had no appointment. They waste your time here and have nothing to say except the doctor had to go to surgery. Clealry your system doesn't work so don't make appointments for doctors who have surgery. THREE appointments canceled with no notice is UNACCEPTABLE!! HORRIBLE OFFICE! This has never happened to me at other places...wish I still had that insurance coverage."
