Reviews of Chateau Coralini
"This Victorian mansion (built in 1891) is a beautiful place to stay if you are traveling through the area or just want a little romantic getaway! Room was wonderful and the grounds are well kept. There is plenty of parking and it is very quiet at night (with the exception of a few spirits that might still be hanging out in the old home). Hidden downstairs is a beautiful wine cellar with tables and chairs but best of all, there is a really fun pool table room to enjoy! You'll love it here. -Robert"
"I love the Chateau! I've stayed twice now and there are so many wonderful things about this place, with a few significant cons that may deter some people depending on your lifestyle and needs. Its in a very unique spot and perfect for if you have business in Salinas or play in Monterey and surrounding attractions. It's in a peaceful residential community, so no hustle or bustle or noise from the streets. There are hiking trails and parks just outside the doors. Some sense of security is present from the Las Palmas security guard who is sometimes at the booth in daytime or making rounds in the community at night. The pros: - Beautiful rooms, pretty spacious. Antique, cozy decor - lots of lounge areas, or areas to walk in beautiful grounds - coffee, tea, plates, etc in the kitchen (no breakfast or food available) - decent wifi - plenty of parking - feels very homey and quiet. Don't really see staff around which I kind of like. - amazing bathroom and shower, all the amenities you need - just lots of cute touches and little things, games, magazines books in the front room, etc The cons: - there is no staff on site for most of the day unless it's housekeeping or grounds. The 24/7 phone line sounds like a call center not locally based - there is no AC and of course they don't tell you that before booking lol. Though there are controls in each room and vents so either they just don't use it or it's broken?? They do offer fans in the rooms. It gets hot and stuffy during the day but at night I've not had a problem opening the window and running the plug in fan, except this time my fan started making some horrible grinding noises when it was rotating so they should upgrade those... The first time I stayed there were no screens on the windows so kinda sucks if bugs get in. The second time I did have a screen in my bedroom window but not the bathroom. - No fridge or microwave in your room, only a communal one. Not a big deal for microwave, but for fridge I think that is kinda lame. While most people look nice here, I still worry someone could mess with it. And if you had medications you needed to keep Refrigerated like insulin, it would also not be very safe. - no Elevator from what I can tell, and I think almost all the rooms are upstairs, and the front entrance is up a few steps as well with no ramp. So if you are elderly or disabled, I would not recommend staying here. - The beds aren't the worst hotel beds I've ever slept on, but they are not comfortable in the 2 different rooms I've stayed in so far. Could benefit from a memory foam mattress topper at the very least. You can definitely feel the springs. Pillows are also very flat and not supportive, so bring your own! - Walls are pretty thin and it's an old building so you will hear all kinds of noises, but for the most part people are quiet when they're not walking around. Don't hear any children or parties happening. Overall I prefer this over the local Salinas hotels by far, and the price is great for the value. But if you are disabled such that climbing steps is difficult or not possible for you, if you are elderly, have young children, or run hot body temp wise, I would opt for a normal hotel."
"We chose Chateau Coralini for our small wedding and we are so glad that we did! This historic mansion has ten estate rooms so our closest family & friends could stay with us through our wedding weekend. The house is spacious and the grounds are well manicured. The owners were communicative and helpful. We hosted a beautiful ceremony at the gazebo, cocktail hour & reception dinner in the courtyard and followed up with drinks & dancing inside. We highly recommend the Chateau for an intimate event or even an overnight stay in the area!"
"Last visited 7-25-2023. This little oasis is nestled in a gated community, in Salinas near the hills, and close to HWY 101 and 68. This historic site offers digital keypad check-in and out options and feels exclusive when we stay here. Natalie and team do a fantastic job managing the property's appearance and upkeep. Always clean and welcoming. A few cons to this place includes no AC during summer months, no screens on windows to keep bugs out when open, and bed wasn't that comfortable this time. However, pros faaarrrrr outweigh these cons."
"So pleased with our stay. Our family stayed in the cottage and it was perfect for a multiple day stay. The rooms were impeccably clean with comfortable beds and soft linens. The kitchen had everything we needed to feel at home having a meal. Large bathroom with a shower that you will want to stay in forever. We enjoyed walking the beautiful grounds and our children really enjoyed the playhouse and basketball court. The patios were amazing to relax on after the hustle and bustle of busy days. This was really a gem in Salinas, we felt safe in the beautifully secluded neighborhood but still perfectly located for quick and easy travel to Monterey, Big Sur, Santa Cruz, etc.. The hosts were attentive to all of our needs and I appreciate having the convenience & hospitality of a hotel with the privacy of a vacation rental."
