Sather Hotel Berkeley, SureStay Collection By Best Western

"Tl;dr: Not recommended for families or casual travellers. The hotel itself placed well, nearby a gas station and a restaurant. The shower was a walk-in and the bathroom was nice elsewise. The good ends there. The rooms have windows that face the outdoors, and the cleaning people always raise the blinds, so any passerby can look into your room at any time. There were stains on the bedsheets. They do not have staff before 6am according to their own employees, so if you have to leave to catch a flight before and accidentally lock yourself out, you can enjoy the cold and miss your flight or leave without your possessions. If you do leave without your possessions, the staff will not cooperate with you on getting it back. It took me going to my company who made the reservation and applying pressure on Best Western corporate to get things moving. Rather than simply sending it and emailing you an invoice, they make you go through the song and dance of sending them an empty box, which they will, eventually, send back to you. Each person will say that someone else is supposed to do the shipping, and even when that person is in, they may "not feel like going to ups tonight." Do not come here unless you are looking for the bare bones cost, or have a large company willing to go to bat for you. Again, I do not recommend this motel, for that is what it really is, for families or casual travelers looking for a relaxed stay."

"I base our stays on reviews and convenience. We booked this room knowing what we were getting into. It was a short walk to the uc theater 2 blocks away. Based on the reviews, it didn't disappoint, no breakfast, no coffee, wait there was milk, and some kind of cereal, no bowls or utensils, coffe machine was broken, there was bread for toast no spread, butter, jam. The room was a pig with lipstick. It did the job for us, but I wouldn't stay here again. I'll just pay more somewhere else."

"We bookd room with a sofa and no sofa and no reimbursement. Complimentary breakfast not all that cereal, coffee and toast. Couldn't even get extra towels, oh why do u need towels .... sheesh"
