"I just heard something concerning from the office manager at Stone Barn Dentistry today after my appointment. Starting at the beginning of the year, they are moving to a payment on the day of service model instead of sending the bill to your insurance and having you pay the balance afterward. I have been a patient of Stone Barn Dentistry my entire life (30+ years) and this change has made me question continuing with them in the future. Not everyone had the money upfront to pay for dentist appointment especially the more expensive procedures. That is why we have insurance! In addition, I have in the past paid on the day of service ( to receive a discount on the total bill) just to run into issues with them cutting me a check or crediting my account. But who wants their money tied up at a dentist you might visit once every 6 months or a check you have to wait to get sent to you plus take the time cash at the bank. I don't agree with this change in policy, especially if Stone Barn Dentistry knows you have insurance it knows they will be paid."
