"I've come here a few times, even after moving away from SD. Most recently, I came in with a friend to finally try the ghost pepper chip challenge (which has now evolved to the hot chip duel featuring Pepper X). Hot sauce selection is great. Service is great. Don't think you'll find a better store specializing in spicy sauce. The hot chip challenge wasn't too bad. We ordered carne asada fries at a local joint we like, with extra guac. I had hot sauce with mine, and she didn't with hers. When we were close to full, we ate the chips. They were somewhat stale, and fairly spicy. I would put the heat at less than a raw habanero, probably around the level of a Thai chile eaten raw. The heat in the mouth was never profound, but I suppose if I stood around for an hour it would've gotten worse. I ate more carne asada fries, as the heat in the throat piled up, and the heat in the stomach came soon thereafter. I would say the heat definitely felt worst in the stomach - don't try it on an empty stomach. Took some Tums after an hour, and no complications to report. It was a little harder on her, but honestly nothing close to the reactions you see online. Anyway, visit Hot Licks."

"A gem of a store for those who enjoy hot sauces and spicy treats. They carry a wide range of options most of which are self branded sauces. Stafaffed with helpful and friendly people. Feel free to tatse test. I would highly recommend all those tasting options on the particularly the green jalapeños hot sauce, which is mild in heat."
