Megawich - The Ultimate Sandwich

"UPDATE: After giving this place another shot, I have to lower my rating. During my first visit I waited about 15 minutes and I was the only person in the restaurant. It was late at night so I gave them the benefit of the doubt that it was a new business still working out some kinks. It has been a few months now and the service is still painfully slow. Each time I’ve gone they specifically ask you to leave a 5 star review. I get reviews are important for a new business, but if it’s good it should speak for itself. My party ordered 3 large sandwiches (24” each) for a total of $94. The only thing “Mega” about Megawich is the wait time. We waited 30 minutes for our sandwiches. 2 people ordered after us and they got their food before we did. There is absolutely no reason that a sandwich should take that long to prepare considering that there is nothing special about the sandwiches they offer. Second, the amount you pay for these sandwiches is not worth it. In my original review I mentioned how the portions are lackluster, and for a place that promises mega portions on their website they fall several feet short of the mark. Read the excerpt from their website below: “The idea was to fill the niche of the underserved community in the Milwaukee east side that are looking for healthy food, big on protein with satisfying portions during late night hours.” If you are promising sandwiches big on protein then there should be more than a few slices of protein on your sandwiches. It should not take 1 large 24” sandwich for me to get full, when sandwiches from other chains can do the same with half the amount. Having given this place another chance I cannot recommend it. There is clearly a mismanagement of time. Initially I thought the price was worth what you get, but after giving Megawich another opportunity I will not be returning. It’s not worth the hassle or the price. They over promise and under deliver. I would expect more from a place called Megawich, but instead you’re met with a mediocre sandwich."

"The food and service was fantastic!! I had the beef pitcher and I loved every bite. Fatima was very hospitable and gave an awesome recommendation. Will be back soon!"

"This place has a modest choice of items on the menu, but they make up for a limited choice with huge taste for the items that they do have! My personal fave, so far, is the Quarterback Burger. Along with big taste, they provide big portions. The QB Burger is pretty big for the price. (about $9) it's just too bad that they don't offer fries, but they do offer a variety of chips. All and all, though, they're more than good enough to keep me coming back! A plus, they're open pretty late. 11a-12p Mon through Thurs 11a-3a Fri and Sat and 12a-7p on Sun"

"The sandwiches were okay, but they didn't live up to the "Mega" name. We were expecting bold flavor and layers of deliciousness, like the advertisements. What we received was lots of bread, minimal spice and sadness. The chicken catcher has so much potential, but it was a bit dry . The quarterback burger was missing cheese and you could barely taste the sauce. Customer service was good from start to finish."
