Valentia Coffee

"I recently placed a review of how dissatisfied I was that the café only uses disposable plates, cups, and mugs. I wrote the owner and we had a back-and-forth email discussion. He explained to me the business model, and how difficult it is these days to hire dishwashers and that the use of chemicals and dishwashing is incredibly energy consumptive too. So I have a better understanding now. And the owner is a really good guy. It’s a lovely café. Yes, I do wish they served on real plates and mugs/cups when you’re inside the café In terms of our planet and the experience, but I have a better understanding of why they don’t now. Please bring your reusable mug when you go! —- I’m happy it’s a local café and not a Starbucks! Please support local cafés. This is a nice one in a great location. :-)"

"This is a solid spot for coffee in town. I don’t visit often because it can be busy with college students and hard to find seating, but the coffee is good and it’s fun to get coffee and walk through campus or to the lake! Parking is available a few blocks away on garages or on the street, so be prepared to navigate that!"

"I absolutely love Valentia Coffee- not only for the fresh and local menu, the quality drinks, and the clean and welcoming atmosphere, but for the friendly staff, manager, and owner as well. Every time I get a cute personalized drawing or note on my coffee cup it makes my day. The mural inside the shop is a great spot for photos. It goes without saying that the Valentia family loves what they do, and every visit reminds me why it is my go-to for coffee and a quick healthy breakfast in madison :)"

"Stopped by here while visiting from out of town in the Spring. Staff was patient while we decided on our order and I always appreciate when coffee shops have steamer options for our little one. The baristas doodled on my drink, which made my morning and a fun surprise! We also ordered some breakfast sandwiches, which were freaking delicious. I loved the chili oil that they served with mine at the time. Overall, was a lovely place to stop for coffee while visiting Madison."

"In town for the Crossfit Games and always looking for a local coffee place. College town coffee shop so you'll find students working on their laptops as they sip liquid support. Clean and open environment with plenty of space. I tried the Miel (cinnamon & honey) good strong coffee taste not a sweet drink at all if your the kind of person that enjoys a little coffee with your sweetness. I do tast the cinnamon but the honey flavor is lost in mine. Husband had the same drink and can definitely taste the sweetness of the honey. So a little inconvenience. Friendly staff. Would definitely visit again."
