J-Mart Japanese/Asian Grocery Store

"Great little place with a good selection. Coming from Oklahoma City with 4 major markets of this kind, I've been spoiled but JMart is off to a good start. I'm glad to have a store like this at all in little ol Sparta. I reckon the drinks and snacks are a big hit with the local youth, I hope that they'll add more meal staples to the shelves someday. The Raman selection is solid though. Obviously, the square footage of the store limits what they can do, but I'm hopeful that JMart will expand like the Super Mercado Oaxaca did and that Spartas palette will follow suit. I'm so glad that I don't have to go all the way to La Crosse/Onalaska for my Shrimp Chips and Jinro! I love that they have gatcha machines too."

"Great food. It was beautifully presented and there was plenty of it. I'm happy to discover this little gem and I hear they're moving to downtown Sparta 142 N Water St I'm excited to see what they do at the place!"

"The Japanese shop has an interesting and diversified assortment of goods and accoutrements for any interest. Whether seafood or simple ramen ingredients they have it. In addition there is a restaurant in the back. Two stops in one, grocery and a quick bite to eat."

"If you want to buy any product in this store, it is best to check the expiration date before purchasing any product here!!! There are items that expired for about five months! I visited this store on 10/24, 2021, but the food I got expired on 6/29, 2021! ! The store replied to me, "The dates aren't expiration dates or dates when the products are no longer safe to eat. They are what the companies believe their products are at their peak flavor. As long as you do not see any clear signs of damage, mold, or other sign that it has gone bad, it is very likely safe to eat. For products like instant ramen, they are generally safe to eat up to a year after the Best By date as long as they are stored in a cool dry place." Be careful when you visit this store!!!!"
