"Dining room is nice, fireplace and outdoor firepit. Even have a "robotic" server (trays deliver to assigned table) human server has to take from robotic server to give to people. Kinda cool. We did not stay at lodge."

"Decided to give Balsam Lake Lodge restaurant a try for their Valentine's Day dinner special. Made reservations and were greeted by a friendly hostess. We were seated in the beautiful dining room space next to the windows. Our server was friendly, but seemed to lack knowledge of details for special Valentine's Day menu items. A serving ROBOT went zipping through the dining room with plates of food, to the wrong table, twice. Not sure what the reason is for the restaurant to even have this annoying contraption, especially when the server was right behind it empty handed. There was a terrible draft of cold air as we sat next to the window. I noticed numerous guests were wearing their coats, I asked if the heat could be turned up. The server said they tried to turn the heat up before and it didn't work. We waited an extremely long time for our appetizer too arrive, watching others get served before us that had ordered after we did. Dining room and bar area were not busy, not even half of the tables were used, yet the staff was telling guests it was crazy busy, sorry for the wait. Took almost 2 hours from being seated to paying, shouldn't have taken that long when it was obviously not busy. The food was decent, but overpriced and main entree came out cold. Restroom was disgusting, trash on the floor, tubs on the floor with items sitting in water, and cleaning supplies out in the open, creating a dangerous situation for kids or a tripping hazard. Overall.... We won't be back, lesson learned we should have gone to Indian Head Supper Club instead, which never disappoints."

"Server was wonderful however the food was extremely disappointing. We had to send the appetizer back because it was raw, we were served it after our entries arrived and then fried to the point it just crumbled. We all ordered different entries, pulled pork was dry and fatty, burgers also dry and overcooked. Fries weren't hot."

"We have passed this lodge many time heading into Balsam and wanted to try their food. Unfortunately the food was awful. I had the pulled pork, it was dry, huge fat chunks and flavorless. My husband had a double stack burger and it came with 2 mini burgers fit into 1 bun. Daughter had the Mac n cheese and the macaroni was Luke warm and flavorless. The fruit she got was a dried out orange slice and pineapple pieces that were past their ripeness. Fry portion was probably 2 oz of fries. Calamari pieces were extremely over cooked and was tough to even bite through. Within an hour of eating, I also sick. I think it may have been the pork. On top of bad food the service was horrid. Asked the server 3 times for sweetener and utensils and she never brought them. She kept telling our table and the table next to us how forgetful she was and it’s been a day. I went up to the bar instead. Needless to say there were only 3 other tables eating and they were not busy at all. I just don’t understand why the service was this bad then it was slow. The atmosphere was lovely and very inviting. Lake view was spectacular. Just wish the food and service could match the atmosphere. Was so disappointing. Didn’t stay in the rooms, but unfortunately won’t be coming back."

"I had a meeting in the area with a client and decided to spend the night at this establishment. I'm sure glad I did. I had a wonderful time and will definitely be coming back. The rooms where a little on the smaller side (I stayed in the 6 person/2 level suite) but they where nice and clean and did the job. The atmosphere was great and the view of the lake was beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The restaurant was excellent and I highly recommend the new ahi tuna dish. Delicious. We stayed last night on their bingo night and that was a blast. What a great group of people staff and guests! I very much enjoyed the stay and look forward to coming back!"
