"The influence of Alice Waters and David Tennis is at play in the $45 prix fixe 3-course lunch, simple, elegant and delicious. The rest of the menu, except the desserts and cocktails, looks to be uninterestingly pedestrian. Recently, a salad of thinly shaved manchego, mint, beets and radicchio first course and a perfectly cooked Sea bass, very plump clams, broad beans, and fennel second course in a seafood broth lightly seasoned with dill were superb, as were desserts that our waiter allowed us to substitute for the third course. Highly recommended for lunch."

"Small portions and big prices are the theme. $6 for a small heel of stale sourdough. Remember the old days when bread was free? 18% service charge automatically added to bill. Of course there's also a line for optional gratuity. Service was good. But overall way way overpriced and forgetable. Much better options are available in Westwood village."

"Had lunch on a visit to the Hammer. Beautiful setting, attentive service, wonderful food and wine (at museum prices, of course). Started with deviled eggs, followed by tuna tostada (pictured) and the mozzarella prosciutto arugula sandwich - all scrumptious. There are other good lunch options on the street, but for convenience and elegance, dine in."
