Reviews of Warren-Walker School Early Learning Center
"My toddler has been at school here since he was 6 months old, and we have had a wonderful experience. The teachers are so kind and loving, and my little boy loves going to school. They are willing to work with us to make sure he gets what he needs, and his smile when I drop him off is so telling about how much fun he has there."
"Our daughter’s time at ELC is coming to a close this week. She’s been there 7 months, from age 11 months to 18 months. She really enjoyed being there and we loved her teachers, but me and my wife never felt supported or heard by administrators. She is starting a new daycare for multiple reasons. High teacher turnover, including one primary who started and left within months, is one. It has meant a lot of new faces each week/month. I’m curious about teacher unhappiness. The school tried to address “something” with a fee increase. The monthly fee went up $117 to $2454 this month and was explained in an email like this: “Upon reflection, we are ever mindful of how important it is to support the people to whom we owe so much by ensuring that they are fairly compensated, enjoy a safety net of benefits, and are provided time to recharge without penalty in the form of paid holidays, time for medical attention, and vacations. It is vitally important that the source, namely tuition, is well designed at levels that allow for this kind of support to be maintained.” I hope the fee increase helps these wonderful teachers, but I think structural processes need fixed too. Communication about old/new teachers is sparse, as are names. It’s awkward and tiresome for us, the parents, to keep meeting the newest teacher, so I’m sure our daughter feels the constant changes too. It’s also unclear who is a substitute and who is permanent. As parents, we never felt heard or relevant. I’m going to speculate the teachers might feel the same way? Sick policy was an issue, but mainly for the way it was communicated in real time, not the policy itself. No discussion about the actual sickness. She was sent home for “vomiting”, as an example. We contend our then 11-month old was spitting up after a bottle, as opposed to “vomiting.” She didn’t have sickness or fever and played happily the few days ELC required her to stay home. We’re required to give a 1-month notice of withdrawal and in the 3 weeks that have already lapsed no one from ELC has asked why we’re leaving. One final example of our family not feeling seen, heard or appreciated."
