"Absolutely beautiful hotel. I wish we had more than one night. It's close to the state building and so many restaurants and shops. We were there for a show at the Sacramento memorial auditorium and it was a few blocks away so walking was perfect."
"The valet company and poor hotel management entirely destroyed my trip. The valet gave me my car without the key. I was notified when I was 30 minutes into a 2 hour drive by the car the valet had kept the key. I drove back and they could not find the key and refused to give any information as to where it was. I missed the event I had flown to Sacramento to speak at (I was the headliner) and the hotel and valet did absolutely nothing to make it right. The manager told me I needed to fill out a form with the valet company and the owner would call. Nobody’s called and I doubt they will. They found the key 6 HOURS LATER and refused to tell me where it was. Said their manager told them they couldn’t tell us. Made me wait 75 minutes to they my car out of Valet. Rooms are old, beat up, badly in need of a remodel. Food is awful. Beds are cheap. Don’t stay here I stayed in a holiday in express the next night instead for half the price with twice the experience and I am a 5 star only hotel person. This is the worst hotel in California. 0 integrity or commitment to customers. Do not stay here. I will pursue this legally due To the fact that I can afford it and companies should not be allowed to ruin a guests entire trip with 0 apology accountability or desire to make it right. I spent hundreds on Ubers alone just trying to make my events."
"In town for work meetings. Great place to stay in the downtown. It is an older location. There were little things amiss. Missing stone above middle elevator on level 6, the fridge didn't work in my room, there was a $1000 shower with a $5 shower head that sprayed onto the floor, and the wifi didn't work well in my room. Decent amenities for Mariott members. The $15 food and drink voucher was nice, as were the bottles of water. I enjoyed the breakfast and the food served during the meeting was good as well."
"The day that we were there, it was rainy and chill. The room heater was broken. We complained. But we did not get another room. They gave us the room for free at the end of our stay. Hopefully, if it happens again, they will give you another room with the heater working. It was cold coming out of a shower. You can easily catch a cold."
"I had a great experience last month when I stayed at The Citizen. I would happily stay again if I'm back in Sacramento. My room on the 14th floor was cozy but gorgeous with a patio that had me in awe! Amazing view. The shower did have a step that could be difficult for the mobility challenged. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and very helpful including the front desk helping me get a work package sent out. Thank you! There were also hotel staff at the entry to greet me each time I was coming and going. The hotel was also an easy walk to the Kings game at Golden 1; you could see the lit beam after from the room. Several restaurants and bars were around there too."
