"Its a damn shame how SHRA is being ran! If they don't hurry up and process my paperwork, I will be bringing a tent and setting it up near their entrance to protest! I will also publicly broadcast my caseworker's FULL NAME on a HUGE SIGN to let everyone know she's the reason why I have no place to live!"
"Reading the reviews is scary! I called last week,I spoke with a lady named Makeyyaa,She had excellent customer service.I was on hold for about 30 minutes, which to me is fast for a city as big as Sacramento.I asked questions about porting in from another State. She was very informative, and even gave information I needed that I didn't know I needed.Seeing all the negative comments about, all the stuff not being done or even getting a call back is a scary thing. It makes me wonder if going back to California is a bad idea.Im not trying to be homeless when I have a voucher, then lose it or a apartment I applied for because inspection didn't happen or I ran out of time,"
"I was told my name has finally come up on the list after almost a year of waiting. During this time myself and children have been homeless literally staying wherever we can if I am unable to afford a hotel. So hearing I finally came up on the list made me hopeful. I immediately turn in my packets for both Marina vista & Alder Grove. I went inside the office with the packets but one of the workers was arguing with another customer and the other one was taking forever to log into her computer. I had to ask the security guard where I turn in my packets I was told in a yellow drop box outside. Now we all know VERY sensitive information is in those packets so I'm like why is there a drop box outside?!? I turned in my packet on the 7th. I waited until the 9th to call and see if it was received and the process. I get told they haven't processed yet and doesn't show in system to call back in a day or two. I wait a day and called again then I'm told still can't find it now I'm upset because again this is information with my personal information as well as my kids. I get told a supervisor will call me about this of course I never receive that call. So I called again today get told it must have somehow got lost. Yeah that's right lost! I'm like how do y'all lose someone information like that! Anyone can be using it etc! The rep goes on to tell me the systems have been done and they have been having issues in the department that process the paperwork. I'm told they will mail me out another packet I ask ok does that hurt me on the list as the paper work stated it had to be done by the 12th! I'm told no it shouldn't but I honestly don't trust that now someone else can probably get my place. There needs to be a better system for receiving sensitive documents and processing them! Or some type of way to get a record of receiving. Only positive I have is that every time I have called I haven't waited long but it was still a waste as I was told basically nothing. I have heard of others who told me that their paper work has gone "mixed up" or "lost" here before as well!. Their slogan is "We are changing lives" i dint think they understand how for those unable to afford how much we count on these housing."
"Sacramento Housing Authority is wasting tax payer money. Where are the caseworkers? At home? Caseworkers are being paid, but the work isn't getting done. When is everyone going to get back to work? The caseworkers are not accepting phone calls nor are they returning phone calls. Paperwork isn't getting filed or updated. The resident portal options are limited. Phone recording says residents can request callbacks via the resident portal, that's a lie. That feature doesn't exist. Participants have been waiting months for callbacks and correspondence from caseworkers. No help whatsoever! Participants are being told that caseworkers are backed up. What's really going on? Everyone experiencing this should reach out to HUD to file a complaint against this agency. Expect to wait months to port in or out, to update family household, a voucher extension, or anything else. And when I say months, I mean like 4 to 6 months. That's how long it's taking them to process some paperwork. While you wait, they will not communicate with you. They will not call you back within 48 hours. Each time you call you will wait 30 mins to an hour to speak to someone. When you speak to someone, they will tell you it's still being processed. You will feel so frustrated. You might even go bald. It will feel like nothing is getting done. You may even end up homeless. Maybe if you go across the border and re-enter with the migrants, you'll get the help you need quicker."
"As others mentioned, it’s best to call at 8am, otherwise you will be on hold for up to an hour. I’m currently in the process of porting back to the area, which is a slow process. SHRA takes several weeks to input your file. Payment standards are great in comparison to other nearby PHA’s."
