Red Lion Hotel Monterey

"Definitely not staying here again. The pictures are extremely deceiving. The walls in the room had mold. The room smelled like stale cigarettes as soon as you opened the door. I had to open the window and keep it open during the entire stay. The beds were uncomfortable and cheap. I booked this hotel because it had a pool and hot tub, both were disgusting, covered in bugs and leaves, and the hot tub didn't even work. What a waste of money."

"Red Lion Hotel, usually I can trust the brand. This one in Monterey is in a perfect location with good people working, but the hotel is due to remodeling. The room and hallway feel old to the point I don't feel comfortable. But because of the location and friendly employees. This hotel should have a 3-1/2 star rating, but round up to 4 stars."

"It is unfortunate the condition of this facility. It is in a very convenient location. The place is old and worn. The toilet in my room didn't work. When i notified them. There response was to take off the tank lid and giggle the flush valve! The coffee maker was missing from the room. The hot tub is empty, the restaurant and bar are both closed."

"Rooms were clean but the toilet was like black stains on there, and the bathtub had hair so it took a long time to drain the water but otherwise the room was clean and it smelt good when I walked in. The service was great. The front desk was super nice. The location also had a very beautiful view."

"For costing as much as it did, I expected a nicer room than a half-hearted flip of an old motel. The soap in the shower dispenser wasn't filled for our stay either. The outside pane of our window was broken. Staff was friendly and the bed was actually firm-comfortable, so it wasn't all bad."
