Reviews of Four Points by Sheraton San Jose Downtown
"We came to this Marriott property for an event in SAP center, everything turns out to be beyond our expectations! The hotel got a recent renovation for lobby, hallways and all guest rooms, so we’re pretty satisfied about the room decor. The hotel is in the center of downtown San Jose, which is adjacent to many restaurants and events. Overall for the price of this hotel, it is providing an incredible value. The hotel staff (Jay) we met is also very friendly, and provided everything we needed smoothly."
"Checking notes Ancient illegal elevators Paper thin walls Roof didn't cave in Took 5 minutes for water to get appreciably warm, wasting water. They believe 39$ for parking is a good deal? The TV has only 20 channels, mostly infomercials The hotel is only 4 stories, so you get all of the road noise. Single paned windows, They had me sign an additional contract, that was not available when booking online, and they would not have provided a refund if I refused to sign it. I'm sure that's illegal, but too expensive to sue over."
"Had multiple nights booked in early December for work at another property . Arrived and was told they had my reservation but did not have any clean rooms. I was told to go find another hotel, possibly the extended stay next door. I called Marriott corporate as I could not believe this is how Marriott treats customers. Marriott corp. called the hotel to advise them that they have to find me accommodation at a nearby Marriott property. After a lengthy delay I was sent to this downtown San Jose property , the site was advised of what happened and the rate I had. I was placed in a room much smaller than the size I had booked. When I checked out I was charged a much higher rate. The person at checkout was extremely rude. I spoke to both Marriott properties regarding it but have not heard back from them. I called Marriott corporate back and they assured me they were working on it and said when this happens they are supposed to find me a new accommodation and cover the cost, all that happened for me was sending me further away and charging me more for a smaller room and $39 a night parking fee. This was is not good, as this was a business trip booked via my companies site and using my company credit card. The higher rate they charged me is over what the company allows to be spent on accommodation. Be careful booking with Marriott if traveling for business with travel rules. I never once heard from the manager or owner of either Marriott property, you would think at the very least they would apologize. Worst Marriott experience, worst of any hotel stay. This is still not resolved."
"The good, the bad and the ugly: We booked an ADA room for the weekend for our first trip to San Jose. The location was great - right downtown and close to everything. The woman at the front desk was kind and helpful and gave us a room on the second floor right above the restaurant where we had an acceptable, though unremarkable meal before going up to bed. Our first concern was that once the sofa bed was folded out, the wheelchair user could no longer exit the room in their chair. We decided to just hope for the best. Instead we got a pounding bass that literally shook the bed from a massive dance party in the restaurant below. At midnight, after over 2 hours of desperately trying to sleep, I went to request a new room. The woman at the front desk found us one on the 3rd floor at the back of the hotel as far from the racket as possible. To reach it, the wheelchair user had to leave his wheelchair behind in the first room and cruise along the walls to the elevator and up to the new room because we didn't want to wake our friend sleeping on the sofa bed (8 hours of jet lag can apparently allow you to sleep through nearly anything.). The next day, the supercilious man at the front desk informed me that they would be charging us for two rooms for the previous night since one of party had remained in the room! I told him I wouldn't be paying for the room and he argued that if one person had been able to sleep in it, it was clearly a problem with us and not the room. From my point of view, we'd been put in a room that was not of merchantable quality. No one should pay to stay in a hotel room that is unfit for sleeping. I spent the rest of the day sleeping in the new room and didn't get to see much of San Jose. Fortunately, the big party the next night, didn't shake the third floor room. Sunday night the restaurant was closed. Takeaway: a good place to stay on a Sunday night or if you don't plan to go to bed before 3am on other days."
"I think this company needs to step up and look at the demographics of who is actually travelling these days. Checked in and was told there was ONE complimentary bottle of water. C’mon .. two people in the room and you can’t give us each a bottle of water. Some may say this is nit picking, but really.. are we supposed to share? It’s not like these rooms are $50 a night. We’re paying good money at what I believed was a high end hotel. The least you can do is provide a bottle of water for each person checked into the room!! Now the room… we booked a King Size .. nice, spacious.. looks remodeled.. but again, the toilets?? What is with these hotels that remodel but leave the old toilets that you may as well be sitting on the floor. They are that low to the ground. There are people in this world who are over 5’5! If you’re not going to install tall toilets, you best be installing grab bars so we tall people can get off of them. If you’re coming to see a hockey game, this hotel is adequate. Hope the sister hotel in San Francisco has more to offer."
