Reviews of DIG Childhood Center
"A wonderful community and play based preschool. Teachers are so kind and engaged and have been there for years. Children are treated with respect. The outdoor space has beautiful trees that create a hidden oasis. This is a very special place."
"This place is such a hidden gem. My daughter has gone here for 3 years and I wish I would have known about it for my son. My daughter can’t wait to go to school every day and she is sad there is no school on the weekends. It is a magical place where kids are allowed to be kids. The teachers are the best in the business and love each child like their own. If more places like this were available I feel like the world would be a better place."
"After viewing a number of local preschools for my daughter, choosing DIG was easy. She was immediately comfortable there and the teachers are so incredibly caring and patient. My husband and I became first time parents during COVID so we were certainly anxious about sending her to any school and since day one I’ve never felt worried or concerned about my child’s care. I especially love that at DIG, she can be a kid, decide what she wants to do, who she wants to play with, and is learning new emotional regulation and communication skills that will serve her for her entire life."
"My first child graduated from YFCP last year, and now my second is attending. I wish it were somehow possible to keep them there forever! YFCP has everything I could ever want in a preschool. First and foremost, the teachers are all deeply trained in facilitating children's development and social/emotional skills as well as being an amazing group of caring, loving individuals. The program is play-based, with plenty of unstructured time for the kids to explore the rich materials on their own terms. The school is a model for The Outdoor Classroom, and the kids get to spend most of the day outside if they choose (mine did). The parent community is wonderful. As a cooperative, parents have work obligations to the school, but the work commitments are carefully structured so as not to be burdensome. My kids consider YFCP to be their second home, and they are completely comfortable and happy there. My first child looks forward to playing in the space when there's family events, and she enjoyed coming back as an alumna to read books at closing circle. No, the program is not academic, but my daughter was certainly kindergarten-ready when she left and excelled her first year at elementary school. Moreover, both of my kids blossomed socially at YFCP and now make friends beautifully on their own. I'm going to be heartbroken when my second graduates!"
"We toured nearly a dozen of the most lauded preschools in West LA before choosing the YWCA for our daughter. We simply fell in love with the outdoor classrooms & the amazing staff. Lots of schools we toured looked great on paper, had all the "right" answers regarding curriculum, conflict-management, handling separation, etc but simply didn't walk the talk when I observed a class. The YWCA over preformed on all of their promises. From handling the initial separation with patience and grace to managing peer conflict to helping the children develop into thoughtful, independent citizens this school is a class act! I couldn't be more thrilled if I had designed the school myself."
