About the Centro Cultural de la Raza
Centro Cultural de la Raza, located at 2004 Park Boulevard in San Diego, California, is an art gallery and tourist attraction that aims to create, preserve, promote, and educate about Chicano, Mexicano, Latino, and Indigenous art and culture. Founded in 1970, the Centro serves as a cultural center and alternative space for artistic growth and cultural exchange in the San Diego/Tijuana region.
The institution is currently hosting the Memorias en Movimiento exhibition, in partnership with Chicana/o activists and artists from the 1990s, to bring together past and present leaders in a symposium and exhibit showcasing the generation's movement work and contributions. The Centro offers a dynamic schedule of events including exhibits, musical performances, installation art, readings, receptions, Azteca dance, Teatro Chicano, Ballet Folklorico, film screenings, and more. Reviews of Centro Cultural de la Raza
"Not a highlight of the park visit I am afraid. There didn't appear to be much to see or do in this particular museum/center."
"Day of the dead Alters and we walked all the way to Sherman heights. It was a lovely event."
"Centro Cultural de la Raza is next to The World Beat Center. It's worth a stop just for the large murals on the outside of the spherical building. There's also an active community garden with composting on grounds. A colorful place!"
"This review is in reference to the children’s park right next-door just doesn’t seem to have a official name to it. But it is a fantastic spot. It has amazing places to relax under the shade with a Astroturf quality grass to nice concrete benches that are 100% shaded and several play structures for a variety of ages from 2 to 12. Honestly, I expected the part to be in worse shape than it is, there are a few items that are broken and taped off as you will see in the pictures but overall at 4:00 on a Monday in July it is terrific!"
