Reviews
"Located inside Balboa Park, this parking area offers some of the best views of Downtown, San Diego Bay, and Point Loma. Planes fly directly overhead and land at the airport, so it's a great place for aviation enthusiasts. My main complaint is that the parking area hasn't been paved in decades! And it needs it."
"This is my Husband's favorite picnic spot in Balboa Park. It's a little off the foot traffic path but most importantly it is directly beneath the terminal path to San Diego International Airport. On a still day you can literally feel and hear the vortexies off the wings of the planes flying over head. Almost always the drum circle group is going which is a nice addition. Sometimes there is occasional homeless in the area but we've never had an trouble there."
"Great place to picnic with family and friends, let your dog run around, or have an awesome drum circle. Highly suggest on a summer evening or fall day!"
"A good spot to park for FREE when accessing downtown San Diego. The walk from here is less than 1 mile to the heart of downtown. There are many homeless people milling around in 2017, but the views are still pretty good perched up on this point and I haven't felt unsafe here during the day yet. Many people jog and walk their dogs here while the jets come in for landings at Lindburgh Field (SAN) Airport. Sunsets can be breathtaking at times."
"One of the most underrated view points in my opinion. You can see all the way down to the bay and point loma and watch the planes fly right over your head while hanging out in the grass"
