About the Ameal Moore Nature Center
The Ameal Moore Nature Center, located at 400 Central Avenue in Riverside, California, is a park and tourist attraction that serves as the main trailhead entrance to the Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Park. This 1,500 acre park is designated as a protected core reserve for the endangered Stephens' Kangaroo rat by the Riverside County Habitat Conservation Agency. The center offers naturalist-led nature walks, exhibits, hands-on learning opportunities, and other programmed events. It also houses a naturalist-based preschool.
Riverside Citizen Science, a program at the center, engages the community in observing and documenting Riverside's environment to foster an appreciation for the natural world in urban spaces. Through educational activities and the Riverside Nature Spotter app, participants help develop a detailed record of plant and animal life changes over time in the park.
However, there have been concerns about cyclists damaging the park's vegetation and wildlife. It has been reported that some cyclists have been illegally cutting down paths and harming plants. To protect the park's ecosystem, some community members have suggested making it a pedestrian-only park.

Reviews of Ameal Moore Nature Center
"Great place! I hiked here during the storm so there was alot of running water. I recommend you are careful because there is a lot of holes and the trails get muddy when it rains. The “waterfall” was nice to see but sad to see it get ruined by offensive graffiti."
"This is a great place to hike it has lots of trails and it goes from easy to gard it depends on you skill level be sure to take some water"
"Wonderful way to get physical exercise, mindfulness and connection with nature. Nice Valley views, fresh air and free!"
"The hiking trail was kept well so access was beginner friendly. It wasn't busy so finding a high rock to mediate at was easy, quiet and peaceful."
"One of my favorite local places to go hike. You can pick a difficult hill hike if that's what you desire. Or you can pick different routes that can be pretty flat and little hill sides. Know that there's wildlife here. Seen some coyotes in a pack. And a snake is the summer. The sunsets are amazing here from the hill tops."
