"We have been trying to get Apokyn for my husband with Parkinson's, a new drug that can change his quality of life exponentially. We have been encountering red tape for months and Dr. Amy Brown has been nearly impossible to reach and certainly no help in the process at all. It is very disappointing and causing my husband and I more stress than you can imagine. Getting a hold of her is like getting hold of the president. Vanderbilt's neurology dept is considered the gold standard for Parkinson's but what does that matter if you don't have access to your neurologist?"
"This review is specifically for Dr. Jarret Curtis (not the rest of Vanderbilt or neuro office) - if you’re looking for a good neurologist Dr. Curtis was FANTASTIC. I’ve had my fair share of bad doctors appointments, especially when my case is pretty atypical. However, Dr. Curtis took his time, listened well, ask thoughtful questions, and gave detailed explanations for what he thought. He didn’t leave me without a follow up plan, and even had multiple scenarios in mind for the future. That kind of care is hard to find theses days. I appreciated everything he did and would 100% recommend in the future."
"Always a great visit. Lindsay Marie Malatesta, MD. Is my the neurologist my husband sees and she has been extremely knowledgeable and helpful and has went out of her way to get us information we were needing and interested in. She’s given us a lot of insight to his needs as well as managing to see us much sooner than we thought after his first visit. She had all his other related visits set up so smoothly and quickly that we’ve had a lot of concerns resolved. Wonderful Doctor and we really appreciate her! Also the free valet service is amazing considering the confusion and large scale of the hospital at times."
"I was referred to this company after my oral surgeon damaged the nerve in my jaw, leaving me with paresthesia. After 15 minutes of a telehealth consultation, which I had to wait in Zoom for 1hr before the doctor was available thanks to a scheduling SNAFU on Vanderbilt's end, the bill from Vanderbilt was $618. My insurance was billed for about half, leaving me with a bill of about $350. I had waited 3 months for the appointment. The bill said I received 1hr of care. When I complained, they said the cost was correct for a new urgent patient. The fact that 15 minutes of telehealth, which was described as "urgent" after 3 months and 1 hour of waiting, was ridiculous. I fought the charge. You'll see a reply after my review -- this reply was given after my initial 1-star review describing the problem. It took 4 months of back-and-forth. A phone call and letter-to-the-manager later, my new bills says "outpatient new 45 minutes," despite, as I said before, the appointment only lasted 15. The new bill is $492, leaving me to cover $278. I have paid it, because that's all I will get from this business without a lawsuit, I'm sure, which will cost me a lot more than $278, something they are likely banking on. I'm leaving this review with 2 stars instead of 1, as the person who helped me on the phone understood exactly the injustice of the bill I was sent, and the system of inconsistent and absurd costs which prop it up. She deserves a gold star. But the rest of the business needs a reboot. All we need for capitalist healthcare to work is transparent pricing, allowing consumers to choose the right costs for themselves. Instead they hide it in the backroom, and change the price based on your insurer. You never know the cost until after the service is performed. This is true of most modern healthcare, and it's all corrupt. I am picking on Vanderbilt specifically because they fraudulently charged me for 60, and then 45 minutes of care when I only received 15. They deserve the negative review as it took me 3 months to get the appointment and another 4 to get a bill moderately adjusted. My final bill should look something like $90 after insurance covers its portion if THEY ACTUALLY HAD JUST CHARGED ME FOR THE SERVICES THAT WERE RENDERED. Instead they charged me for WHATEVER THEY FEEL LIKE. I would have left Vanderbilt a positive review if they had served me in a timely manner, billed me accurately, and offered me a reasonable cost rather than trying to swindle me for everything they could get away with. This is corrupt business practice. I will be demanding all pricing up front for all my medical services and you should do the same."
"My primary care Physician sent a referral to Vanderbilt Neurology for me, because I began having double vision, and a droopy left eye. They called to set up an appointment, and the first available a "Ms. Dena" said was in August. Today is April 28th 2022. I am quite disappointed. Yes I am a new patient, but I fear I have had a stroke, or tia... Are all new patients handled in this manner by Vanderbilt????"
