Reviews of First American Title Insurance Company - Homebuilder Services
"Worst title experience ever…..i have left 6 message as the title company owes me over $3400 in overage funds. I would like everyone to know this experience so you do not have to go through this. When buying a new home request to use your own title insurance company. You have the right. I will be notifying the proper regulating authorities to report this unethical business practice."
"Poor communication and no follow up on documentation that dictates how a customer wanted to obtain their proceeds. Escrow officer is just way too busy to call me back though, just so so busy taking multiple days to balance a Closing Disclosure on a VA loan that had almost no fee changes from a Closing Disclosure a month ago, creating an extremely tight deadline where the file was and should've been a slam dunk. It wasn't a slam dunk by these idiots. We waited until the LAST day to get documents, creating the impression we could have had a delay in closing. Sonya, if I tell you I want to come to your office and get my check, that doesn't mean mail it to me from your corporate headquarters in Arizona, which can take upwards of over a week. How about I charge you per day interest on my $8,000 since I had to wait several days after a stop on the original check? That seem fair?"
"Have gone through many many real estate transactions. So I know title companies. And I have never had such a pitiful experience than with this one in Coronado. Apparently Ms. Grumpypants who answers the phone hates her job and anything related to customer service. Sorry, did I interupt your donut break? And it's really sad because I'm sure this isn't what the rest of the office is like. Right?"
"Officer Edmonds is extremely rude. She just flat out hung up on me at the end of our conversation. I expected better customer service."
"I have bought a number of homes over the years and always considered the Title services a commodity; a simple administrative function that could be successfully handled by any licensed company. So when KB home included them on their paperwork as their preferred title company, I didn't give it a second thought. Until the notary showed up with my loan docs to sign. I was horrified to find someone else's personal loan docs in with my packet. The notary had me sign them along with my own. Because I was signing over 200 pages in a very rushed manner I did not catch it until later that night and that cause unnecessary delays. Eventually the property closed but for some reason I was unable to access certain services such as the HOA and specific utilities. Turns out the Title company neglected to send copies of the closing documents to the appropriate agencies and I was ineligible to sign up for these services until they did so. The unnecessary delays lasted over a month until the parties involved figured out the oversight was because of the irresponsible behavior of the title company. Finally, the title company gave me information about my property taxes that was very, very wrong and resulted in my getting surprise significant bills months later. Run, do not walk, away from this title company. They should be fined and shut down."
