"I've been taking lessons from Rob for about 2.5 years having never picked up a guitar before. He has taken me from nothing to a darn good player in that time! He's a stickler and that is exactly what has gotten me to where I am. It still amazes me how he can just listen to a song and tab it out! He's an awesome teacher and I'm very lucky that he decided to take me on as a student. Thanks Rob aka 3 Steps ;)"
"I started lessons with Rob a year or so ago, and have officially “graduated” from his studio. I must say the experience working with him was one of a kind. I came to him an intermediate player with gaps in my musical knowledge and a lack of know how to go about practicing in a way that would promote growth in the best possible way. Rob took me back to the basics that most people think they are too far past. Basics like right hand fundamentals and playing rhythmically... nailing the groove. The book that he gives all of his students is a masterpiece of fundamental guitar skill that is essential practice for any level of player and it has made replicating the sounds I hear in my head on my instrument 10x easier. Above all, Rob connected with me on a personal level, helping me discover my true musical identity. I’ve gotten into styles of traditional American music that I would have never tried to play otherwise, like slide playing, Travis picking, delta blues, and bluegrass and I’m a much better musician for it. He helped me realize creating music is far more realistic to me than I thought. we pushed ahead every week with new challenges and insights. after a year the progress has been off the charts. Rob is hilarious and good hearted guy inside and outside his studio and if you put effort into his courses he will pour effort into you.. Trust his process and put in work and results are guaranteed!!"
"Nashville is full of great musicians. Rob Jackson is one of them. What really sets him apart is that he has the skill and desire to make other people into great musicians. If you are looking for someone who really knows how to *teach* guitar, Rob is your person. Several things caught my eye about Rob when I was looking for a teacher, but the big one was that his website isn't bloated with videos and testimonials about what a good guitar player *he* is...it's full of evidence that his students can really play. His teaching emphasizes good rhythm and strong technique with the strumming/picking hand and learning how to hear and play music like a musician. Rock, country, bluegrass, slide guitar--Rob understands and can teach it all. It might seem like a luxury to pay for guitar lessons, and I guess for most of us it is. But paying for lessons with Rob is also one of the best investments I've ever made. It's not just that he has made me a better player--he has helped me to understand and enjoy what I'm playing in ways I never imagined."
"At age 55 I decided to learn guitar with no prior music experience. After a few months of making no progress on my own I found Rob Jackson. After 2 and a half years working with Rob the dream of playing Guitar is coming true. Is he absolutely the guy in Nashville to go to for Guitar. His method of teaching just works."
"After a year of worthless noodling of the guitar, I decided I needed a teacher and I met Rob and have been with him for almost four years. If you live in France and want to learn a language, you don't go to Berlitz language school, you go to the local french teachers to learn how the French speak, the grammatically correct way and the slang way. This is same with learning how to play guitar in Nashville, you go to Rob Jackson. He'll teach you the ground fundamentals with the right technique and do it in a way that keeps you going. What I love about Rob is he is a great teacher. Like all students, you get stuck on something. With Rob as a teacher, he'll try different way for you to learn it; not just one way like some programs. He's got many ways to teach you because he's been doing it for forty years. Trust me, if I can pick it up. So can you but you do have to practice and that is what I like about Rob. This craft takes practice (only like 0.5% of the population could pick it up and jam. Likely that isn't you the reader Sorry to tell you) and Rob holds me accountable to make sure I know my stuff. Its like that teacher in high school you didn't really like because she was really tough but you knew once you finished the class you knew your stuff and were battle tested with the material. Rob is the same. He cares about his students and their development and growth playing the guitar. Great guy. Knowledgeable about music theory, music history, Nashville, and the art of teaching. The locals in Nashville know Rob is the guy if you want to learn guitar. I'm lucky and blessed to be his student. Don't miss out reader. He's a good one."
