Highway Transport

"have to live within a certain area or they wont even look at you, i wasnt opposed to moving but once they found out i didnt live close they treated me like a second class person, not answering calls, answering but putting you on hold then hanging up after 10 minutes."

"I was picking up a load at Rohm and Haas, and was waiting in line behind another driver to check out and leave. While waiting, I took an incoming call from a company that wanted my employment from 2 months before. I said that I was hired with highway transport, and declined the offer. The guard at Rohm and Haas freaked out that I was using a cell phone within the fence line, and it caused me to be called in by highway transport to sign a statement. After I signed, they placed me out of service until the safety department could meet with me. This was on a Thursday. Friday came, and no meeting was set up. I told them I needed to run on Monday because of my fragile financial situation. No meeting was set for Saturday, so I resigned. I was fighting for every dollar I got. The pay averaged about $1000-$1200 a week. I was a great driver that followed the rules by the book. I've taken their great training to another company, and am continuing my professional career. The only good thing about the company is the great training they have, and amazing orientation. Everything after orientation is garbage."

"Brand new assigned truck right out of training! (Air only; no pump) After four months, the dispatcher was angry with me about something, which was really his fault, and he dispatched a load that required a pump off. He told me to switch trucks in Philadelphia with a pump and deliver it to the Bronx. I said, "no, thanks. I have an assigned truck." The VP of operations called and accused me of refusing to service the customer. I told him the dispatcher refused to service the customer because he sent a truck over here with the wrong equipment! Sigh. Good company but poor management at the terminal level. It's all about servicing the customer, not about the driver. They lost a good driver."
