About the Business
Dark Horse Institute, located at 230 Franklin Road in Franklin, Tennessee, is a cutting-edge institution that provides hands-on, real-world experience in the music industry. Our mission is to offer students an accelerated and affordable learning environment that prepares them for successful careers in audio engineering, production, and the music business.
Our mentor-based programs pair students with industry professionals, giving them access to recording studio resources and gear. Class sizes are limited, so early application is recommended to secure your preferred start date.
Our Audio Engineering Program is a 20-week, 500-hour program that includes real-world recording projects with professional bands. The Composition & Songwriting Program, on the other hand, is a 15-week, 375-hour program where students collaborate with industry veterans.
The Music Business Program, also 15 weeks and 375 hours, offers courses in Artist Management, Booking, Record Label Operations, and Music Publishing. Additionally, our Online Music Business Program allows students to gain experience in the industry from the comfort of their own homes.
